Hi May I ask the experts here ,I have a lovely MK2 tropical dial PP DRSD, what would it be worth today as in what should it be insured for? . I am struggling to find a reference, how much would it cost to replace ? Or what could it sell for ?.It cost me $65k in April 2017 any advice would be great.

I’d consider a specialist valuation if your insurance would accept it. It’s a stunning and rare watch and difficult to replace at any cost.

It’s a problem finding a accurate and fair valuation , if I over insure it will cost more on the premiums, They will only pay fair market value , I don’t know what that actually is and there is the problem ,

Every tropical dial is different, so it's a bit of a guess. I'd suggest browsing recent auction results to see if you find something relatively similar. It would be better to have documentation than some opinions from forum members anyway.

Some people would consider selling - too expensive to wear or insure with any kind of practicality.

Those do not trend as easily because so few. Pics would help evaluate. Top tier dealers are always interested, but they have to re-sell it to make it all work.

You are a long time member: just pm or call 2 or 3 respectable uk dealers ( in your case ), they will know what the current valuation is most likely $90-$145K depending condition. sounds obvious, but that would be my first stop for a $$$ 1665 mk2 tropical
cheers from the US from a likewise long time member !

Any coarse £$€ evaluation of an exclusive timepiece, such as a 1665 DRSD, strongly depends on the quality of its dial, hands, case, bezel insert ... and a reliable proof of authenticity.
OP's thread is a bit weird to me because I don't understand why he does not post some representative photos or any additional information about his watch. I would also expect that the OP follows e.g. the route described in post #7. And he did already? https://www.rolexforums.com/showpost...3&postcount=20 |
