Air France pix
Check these out. Look at the holes in both wings close to the fuselage. I'm assuming the heat from the fuel tanks burning melted the aluminium wings.
Good thing all got out before the fire spread. Seeing this wreckage, and looking at the photos taken of the 'plane crash' at the Penetgon on 9/11... makes me wonder why there wasn't any wing/fuselage/tailplane wreckage at all. |

Wow!! Good pics, Johnny. Really makes you wonder how all of them survived after seeing the state of the aircraft in those piccies.

Now local media speculation is that the co-pilot landed the plane 'too far' down the runway and overshot. This wouldn't be an issue if the runway was dry, but I'm guessing the plane overshot because of hydroplaning down the runway. There's a lot of weight on those small points of contact patches with the runway. I'm guessing because of the heavy rains, they couldn't slow down and slide off the tarmac. |

Well, at least all of that will give the survivors something to talk about for years to come...even to some of their grandkids.

That really is a mess!! Like I said before, it is a miracle that all survived.

a credit to the flight crew how they were able to evacuate all in under 2 minutes in near total darkness. And it does look like they touched down too far down the runway.
