Yacht Master, possible?

Hi everyone. I would like to buy a YM 40 (126622) or even 37, but I have been waiting almost one year now. It would be my first rolex ever and I'm struggling to buy it here at ADs in Italy.

Reading on the forum it seems like the watch is sometimes on display at ADs in the USA or other countries in the world. Do you confirm it?
I'm available to travell worldwide to get it.
Hope you guys can help me.

Wish a good day to everyone.

Hi, where are you in Italy?
I'm also from Italy, and I had different experiences with AD's.
Typically:
1) They try to serve only local clients. This avoids that people make many lists in many different dealers. You are from city X? make your list with the AD in city X and not in cities X,Y,Z,T... (in principle this is to obstruct grey market, or to avoid that few people buy a lot of watches)
2) The problem is that AD's in different cities are very different. The one in my city has few watches compared to the potential clients, and he refuses lists in hot watches. (actually he could only provide me a DJ). I work in a different city and I was able to make a list there. But it was not easy. It was and important present for my son and I entered a list for a 126600. It tooks one year, little more. But was quit difficult (and I am sure I was bypassed by some locals during that year).

Where do you come from in Italy?

Born in south italy, but been living and working for 5 years in Milan now. I have been trying at all ADs in Milan but nothing. Time to make a trip and buy it abroad if possible haha.

Difficult now in the UK too.
It didn't used to be.

I am thinking of selling my BLNR and getting a slate dial 40mm YM.
Enquired at my local AD (some history) and got a very polite 'not possible currently' response.

These are not too uncommon in the US at least. I have no idea if a boutique or AD would accommodate an international sale. It is worth calling and having the discussion at least. That is the only way to know.

FWIW I’ve been waiting for the rhodium for a couple months now…… was offered the 2 tone sea dweller but turned it down

Took me 6 months to get it, now the price on the grey market has already doubled.

All Rolex and becoming unobtainable. Obviously, those seeking a watch who are not particularly watch savvy will just buy what is for sale. Rising tide lifts all boats.

At the beginning of 2021, I've seen the blue dial 40mm readily available at an AD (New England, US). During that time, the same AD had several SS DJ36's ready to go as well. However, that was then, and a lot changed in a year. I haven't seen any of these models, or anything similar since. And I've visited them often.

Tough times. Good luck on your search.

In 2020, it took me about 2 months to get my YM 40 Rhodium, and that’s in Japan where almost any steel has been unobtanium since 2018. I thought I’d move to pm around last year…wrong! My paltry $25~30k budget is unlikely to get me much. Time to reassess.

I know given the wider world context it all seems ridiculous but since this is a Rolex forum I genuinely feel sorry for any newbies trying to get their first piece.

Picked mine up last march in the UK about a four month wait, they had a few 37mms at the time as well. The YMs weren’t really selling last year compared to now prices have also gone up.

The YM 37mm and 40mm were the last two Rolex SS models that my UK AD had on display. That was around 2 years ago. Nothing since.

Got mine in November after a 6-month wait, as the AD predicted.
They said that a lot changed since, now it has even become harder to get one.
No one has it in stock anymore, that's for sure. Prices have soared on the grey market as well for the YM40mm Rhodium dial, up to 2x the REP.

Think is possible with a few month wait as they are not so popular as compared with other models

Nothing is impossible. Would be rather ridiculous to travel from Europe to America for a yacht master but hey whatever floats your boat

Maybe it’s the ladies getting into the professional line. The YM 37 is a nice reference for the gals with wrists under 6 inches.

Around here the only Rolex's available are some ladyjusts.

Bought my grey 126655, a few weeks ago, 40% over msrp but market price on these is skyrocketing, already gone up another 5k since I bought it.

Beautiful timepiece, highly underrated imo

Or men who aren't over-sized and are happy with what gave them down below.

things change very quickly. there was a time recently when DJ41's an YM's were readily available in th AD displays. Within no time that all changed and the prices for these models has also risen steadily. the YM a beauty in all its variations. I hope you are able to get what your heart desires!

The demand for these watches have increased as they are seen as an alternative to the subs and gmts. I had tried this watch at an AD in August 2020. I hope you will be able to get your soon.

Yes men do not wear the 37mm model in America, so it may be easier to get one here

Picked up mine (116622) 3 months ago from an AD boutique. According to the sales person, the YMs 40 and 37 are their least sold watches. Waited exactly one day for it.

Given the premium for YM 40 it's becoming more and more difficult to get itfrom ADs as flippers are now interested in it and people don't turn it down if offered or available even if no interest in the watch. This is the sad reality for any Rolex men's size watch

Speaking to a number of grey dealers and it seems this rhodium dial is the up and coming real hot Rolex. They are increasing in price weekly before our eyes.
