New Rolex watches at ADs 30% off (late again)

There are two ADs in my county who have closed their doors due to the bad economy, and poor Rolex sales. Both are closing or have closed within the last two months. Let's face it not too many people are buying Rolex watches now days just us die hards.

Amazing deals the dealer was giving 30% off all Rolex watches left in their inventory. Since the standard Rolex mark up is 40% they would still make 10% and any watch not sold would be sold back to Rolex at factory to dealer cost.

I could have cried when I found out GMT IIC, Milgauss (all three styles), Subs, and Daytonas (only 15% off) were selling for out of this world pricing.

By the time I arrived they only had Datejusts, and one LV Sub remaining. I don't need two L.V.s so I let it go. Just think a NEW not a BNIB L.V. Sub for around $4,327 what a deal.

Does anyone else know of any ADs closing or loosing their right to sell Rolex as Rolex has been pulling dealers as well. I am guessing the problem is nation wide not just here in the western U.S.

I watched a court ordered bankruptcy auction online today where brand new Rolex's were going anywhere from 40%-65% off. Ladies solid 18k gold Cellini w/ white dial brought in the $7k range, Turn-O-Graph brought somewhere in there $4k range. No money to be made but good deals for end users

I predict there will be a lot more going out of business sales following the same footsteps. Keep your eyes and ears open and have the cash ready if you want to get bargains.

wah, very interesting, thx for sharing...

But I thought Rolex won't let this kind of thing happened, instead Rolex HQ will buy back all watches to maintain its brand equity...

I like Datejusts but as sick as it sounds I want another GMT II so I am holding my watch funds for the right price.

Wow, very interesting. Even though it is a going out of business sale, I am surprised that Rolex would allow those deep discounts.

Rolex probably does not have a choice or a say in it.

What are they going to tell an AD that is going out of business. "Sell these at those discounts and we will revoke your AD status!!

They can sell them at whatever price they want now...

Not in my area.

I have been emphatically told by 4 AD's that there is NO DISCOUNT on stainless steel models, ever. PERIOD.

I have no idea if they are simply playing hardball or giving discounts to others. I only know what I have heard while shopping for a GMT IIC

My local AD told me that if Rolex has to take back inventory from an AD, they charge a 10% restocking fee, so it's better to blow them out and not tell Rolex if they are closing down anyway.

Here in Michigan I was getting discount of at least 15% a year ago on a SS model.
I am pretty sure you can get a similar or better discount now. I can give a phone number if you need.
BTW, if you are going to an AD and ask for a discount, they are going to say NO. You gotta have a certain price, such as $5100 for a Sub, and go in and say you have been offered this price, can they beat it.
