AD called. Thinking I will pass.

AD called. They have an EXP2 Black dial available.

Registered interest almost 2 years ago when I picked up a couple pieces that were sent to RSC. Rep #1 must of assisted me at that time.

Since then I have been dealing with Rep #2 that I met on same trip. Also purchased Tudor GMT from rep #2. Placing request for DJ36 with Rep #2 for my wife.

————-

I forgot I expressed interest in this model as it has been so long. Recently I have been more focused on white dial exp2 as I don’t have any white dial references. Also don’t want Rep #2 to think I have been double dealing.

I am thinking that I might pass on this one. Not the one I really want. Rather allow another individual to get a great watch at MSRP. Also want to call Rep #2 and explain situation.

Believe honesty and being up-front will result in good karma in the future.

————-

My heart tells me the path. Just needed to vent to others that would understand.

Yes, this is the way.

Politely declining under those circumstances isn’t going to affect future opportunities. I passed on another reference recently too. They get it.

Update - Spoke with Rep #2 - Explained the situation. She was GREAT!!. Completely understood the situation. Told me how much they appreciate the honesty and she would personally work with the owner of the AD when I am ready to move forward with another model.

Great move and update. So are they working to get you a white Explorer II now? Or just waiting for down the road?

If you don't want it, I think it should go to an owner who does, but it's entirely your decision. In my book you did the right thing, but there is no right thing really.

If it doesn't still sing to you, let it pass.

You'll make someone else very happy, and also get some good vibes sent your way.

At the moment I am waiting. Rep said they have exhibition pieces avail. Going to stop in. Try a bunch of stuff on and see how it goes. No rush as in this for the long haul.

Good call. I owned the Black Explorer 2 and I just don't love it. I would hold out until you find the watch that you want. Now, I would buy the Polar in a second.

Interesting to read these comments. I prefer the black dial Explorer 2 personally. The good thing about this hobby is we all have differing tastes and our tastes change with time.

I can tell you that I have done the same many many times. Good for you, it is the right thing to do.
However, Rolex pulled the account from my AD and now I have had to start all over again.
These are bizarre times and it is a bizarre industry. Good luck with our bizarre hobby.

Should be ok as long as he doesn't string along

Passing can be a good thing as tempting as it might be. I passed on an Exp2 and two weeks later got the call for the one I really wanted.

I agree you should hold out for the white dial, as it ads some diversity since you don’t have any white dials.

I finally tried on a new Explorer ii with black dial and I have to say I loved the way it sat against the wrist. Nice taper with the slanted bezel and the orange on black was on point, but my heart is set on a polar dial, and so I will wait for one to become available. You did the right thing by waiting for the right one.

Good call, pass if not in love with black, say you would rather wait for the white version
