DJ 116234: black or silver dial ? Your advice is welcome

Hi all,
I own a DJ 116234 with black dial and stick indexes, this one:

Now I'm thinking to change the dial with the identical one in silver, like the one below, because I own also the GMT, the Sub and the Explorer, all with black dials:

My only doubt is if the silver dial is readible in daylight conditions or is better the black dial.

What do you think ? Which is your advice ?

Thanks in advance

I have a 116234 with a silver dial and Roman numerals. I think it is legible even in direct sunlight. The baton markers on the one you posted provide even more contrast than mine does as the Roman numerals are white gold.

Your black dial DJ looks great, but if you like the silver dial, it will provide a contrast with your other watches. No worries about legibility -- it is excellent

I wouldn’t worry about readability at all in this case, it’s definitely readable enough. I’d rather keep the collection consistent and not disturb it with a dial of another colour

Based on your collection, I'd add the silver dial. It is absolutely beautiful, as is your black, but silver would give you some color variety. Something I want to do as well with my own collection. Good luck!

Black over silver for better contrast. What about white ?

I’m a big silver or white fan. I think the DJ or OP in white is pretty classy.

I'd stay Black, the Silver will be harder to read at a glance. I went from silver to blue on my 116234.

I have a silver dial Oyster Perpetual, 36mm, with the older "3-6-9" dial. As with silver dial watches, generally (in my experience), it is NOT as legible as a black dial watch, such as my 36mm Explorer.

It can be affected by lighting conditions. Bright sunlight, for instance, can cause reflection. There is little contrast between the dial and the markers, unlike, for example, the Explorer or your Datejust.

However, I would not say the silver dial isn't legible. It's just not AS legible, in all lighting conditions, as a black dial watch with contrasting markers.

And, a silver dial is most assuredly elegant and classic, and, as you know, gives a bit of variety in a collection.

So, if you really fancy the look of the silver dial, have at it. You'll be able to tell the time just fine, though its legibility won't be quite what you're used to.

Silver dial doesn’t have (is not supposed to have) the roulette date wheel if that is important to you. The roulette date wheel and hidden clasp are my favorite details on my 116234

Go for silver! You'll feel like you just bought a brand new watch. I think the monochromatic look is a real winner for Datejusts (I have a slate dial 41).

Silver looks bigger, but I like more blue.

I would go silver. Adds variety next to your other black dials.
