1979 Tudor Submariner
Hi
In my lunchtime wanderings today I came across a Tudor Sub in the window of a watch / clock dealer. The owner said it was from 1979 and was for sale for $19,000 aud ($13,500 usd). I know little about the watch so will spend some days doing research on this forum and elsewhere. General impression just from looking at it we’re positive although the case and band appear very shiny for its age. The price looked reasonable after a cursory look at Chrono 24 Not in a position to buy but just curious. Interested in anyones thoughts on this watch. Sleeve polishing is sometimes seen on certain parts of a watch after decades of wear, but this appears to have the whole of the case and all of the bracelet fully polished. Both should be brushed. I wouldn't be a buyer for this, even with just one average photo.
Regardless of anything else, $13,500 is a very optimistic proposal on the seller's part. There are many better examples out there. |

Nice watch, not a 13.5K example

For that price, you can do a lot better. That case looks like it came out of a dishwasher.

The lugs look reasonably thick, so the case could certainly be refinished. But given the asking price, I'm not sure it's really worth your time to pursue it.

Such an odd choice to polish the whole thing. I’ve seen this a few times recently. Would agree with the comments on price - this is definitely a very optimistic price being asked for this condition. LOL well put.

Great feedback everyone. There’s a few other interesting pieces next to the sub, I’ll check out those ones as well
