RGM Watches in PA
I found them a couple months ago when looking for less known but high quality watchmakers and found them based in the good old USA. I was looking at them again recently and talked to Roland and found him very nice and knowledgeable. I look forward to owning one soon but figured a member here would own one. Looking at the 801 series for the smaller case size. Beautiful dial work and large amounts of bespoke items available.

I saw a dude wearing an RGM diver in Botin, the oldest restaurant in Madrid (also Europe), a couple of years ago. I interrupted him during his dinner to ask what it was; thinking it almost looked like a JLC Polaris but more interesting (and I am a guy who thinks the Polaris is one of the best looking dive watches all time). Still, I just couldn't put my finger on it. And it stood out with an understated uniqueness that was an another level of finishing compared to your typical mid-luxury brand.
His wife was not too pleased that I interrupted their romantic wedding anniversary dinner, or whatever it was, to ask about a watch. But I didn't let her perverted sense of morality deter me from more important affairs. "RGM" the dude replied. At the time, I had no idea what that meant. It could have been a clever three-letter acronym (like: "Ruining my Goddam Marriage" you SOB... given his wife's RBF...) for all I knew. So I let it be. When I looked it up later, I, like you, found a hidden treasure that makes the "Shinola's" story of American watchmaking look like Brandon trying to inspire his countrymen: silly and futile. But I digress... great watch! |

I recall that RGM was at the watchtime event in NYC pre pandemic. I spent about 30 min looking at the watches on display and talking to the owner. Beautiful finishing, custom touches, unique! I was disappointed that they did not attend this year's nyc event.

I dropped off my Sinn for service at their shop and was able to see the rose machine in action as well as handle the chess watch. RGM is a real atelier.

The 254 North Pointer is one of those watches that just does it for me. Wish I could find one. I think they stopped making them around 2012 or 2013, then found enough bits and pieces to make a few more in 2015. Pretty much the only non-traveler's GMT I'd like to have.

Thanks for all the positive comments and experiences. I figured I couldn't be the only one intrigued and wanted to get some information out. I am really torn between the enamel and engine turned dials. Both seem to be top notch.

I previously owned the Time Zone Big Date. Ended up selling it when I realized I didn't really want a timezone watch anymore. But it was a good honest watch at a fair price. When I sold it on ebay, the loss was very modest. If you're wondering about the merits of RGM watchmaking, I know of one famous watchmaker who seems to respect their work.

Hadn’t been aware of them until recently. Turns out they’re based 15 minutes from my father’s home town. Will definitely make a point to stop buy when I’m in the area.

He's buddies with Philippe Dufour. If Dufour gives him the time of day perhaps more collectors should too!

I saw this today on IG. Sized at 35mm which will be small for me but it’s stunning!
