Lange 1 issue
Hi,
Just wondering if there's anything i can get as "compensation" for a botched delivery. I ordered a lange 1 factory fresh supposedly and it was shipped to me without the presentation box etc.. watch came in a small brown box. And the strap is both visibly used and there's damage to it. My SA is AMAZING, always a pleasure talking to her. She's been very helpful during this ordeal. They're shipping me out a new watch once I ship this damaged one back. So what I'm wondering is if there's anything I can ask for from them outside of the supposed "gifts" they'll be sending. I asked for a discount and lange says they don't give any. Is there anything specific I should be asking for? They can't bump me up for a shorter wait on my Odysseus haha Sent from my SM-F926W using Tapatalk |

Maybe I'm missing something. There's damage to the one you received and they're sending out a new one.
If they happen to give you something extra, consider it good graces. But I don't think you're entitled to ask for anything for any pain and suffering this may have caused. |

I'd be happy to sue them for you. Ironically, I require a Lange or similar high horology watch as my retainer (but only with a good strap).

They're making it right for you, so what else do you suppose you're entitled too?

Just figured I could ask for something since the watch was delayed quite a bit and then came in poor condition and without the presentation box and based on experience, brands do something to make up for mistakes outside of just correcting them.

This is quite strange. Did you order from a boutique or an AD? I ordered from a boutique few months ago, and it came with all the box and paperwork.
(The paperwork was not stamped or dated and it didn't have my name on it, but the watch was registered online in Lange's database, so it should be fine.) |

A strange story. Have you ordered a completely new watch from AD Lange and they send you the watch in a replacement box without a warranty card and with a damaged strap? It doesn't add up ...

I'm confused too. How could a "factory fresh" watch have a "visibly used" strap on it? Do you mean that the strap is damaged as in splitting? (as looks from the pic.) Did your SA say anything about the box/paperwork arriving after? If I was to ask for anything, it would be a new Lange 1 with all the boxes and paperwork.

Your AD sent you the watch or Lange (factory) sent you the watch ? I’ve never heard of the factory bypassing the AD in its delivery.

It is the first time I hear something like this (new high end watch, bought as new and not LNIB, delivered without B&P), I am sure I am missing something out of the context.

Watch was ordered from a lange botique to be shipped internationally as we don't have a lange botique or ad
So went from factory to botique to warehouse then to me My SA who is very helpful also does not understand why it was shipped without anything. And also does not know why the strap is both used and damaged as she personally checked the watch before sending it. It's a really weird situation and has us both confused. Sorry to hear about your experience, definitely seems to be an unusual corner case. Glad to hear the SA has been a pleasure to work with in a break-fix scenario such as the one you described.
If it was purchased as a brand new piece from A Lange, I wouldn't be happy either if I received a damaged and/or used piece as noted. Damage within reason can happen in transit, but the piece being used and incomplete is very concerning. Did you record the serial #? Might be helpful to provide / catalogue to see what exactly occurred. I wouldn't necessarily expect financial compensation but it isn't out of line to ask to get taken care of on your next acquisition due to the poor customer experience. Hopefully they'll add an extra strap & A Lange swag for the trouble. A throw in deployant would be a heck of a score, but I doubt they are including those these days as an incentive. Whatever happens, I hope they fix the issue quickly, and without further concerns. |

You could ask for something specific like a cleaning cloth, travelling case, Odysseus, hat, loupe, etc.

Def the Odysseus. Kidding aside, is this a safe way to ship a watch? For something like this, was it not an option to pick up in a boutique in the US via a quick flight. Shipping would make me anxious

I still don’t understand this story and not sure I believe it. You bought a brand new watch direct from a boutique who shipped it internationally to you without box or papers and on a used strap? Did the boutique send you any pictures with serial # etc and box/papers before shipping? If your story is factually correct I would be concerned about shenanigans with whoever this “warehouse” is. Why didn’t the boutique use an insured courier?

It would be good to ask all these questions to Lange, because they definitely need to explain themselves if they did all this.

In a case like this a simple mail to Lange Customer Care, with proofing pictures invoices and serials, without any further effort or push would make them promptly adjust the situation, courier whatever is missing, substitute whatever is required, provide excuses and trigger appropriate measures of Lange towards whoever sold and shipped the watch in such a way.
But, again, is at least difficult to hear what occurred and there may be some details that I am missing. |

What you really need to ask yourself is: would Patek, VC, AP, Rolex, etc. have been this careless? There was another thread recently about Dornbluth dial quality issues (discoloration on the dial... looked awful).

Is the strap sacrificial and not the original Lange alligator strap to avoid CITES restrictions on importing internationally? - Canadian customs are very hot on impounding pieces (I know from bitter experience). |
