FS: 1998 Rolex Submariner Date 16610 w/ Box and Papers - U Series Tritium Dial
Rolex's Submariner is synonymous with the concept of a tool watch, and at the same time a classic design icon and one of the most important watches ever made. The watch offered here is the reference 16610 which uses Rolex's unique 904L stainless steel case and is powered by the 3135 caliber COSC certified movement.
This is a great example of the legendary Submariner, and being a U-series serial, is one of the final watches with a tritium dial before the switch to luminova in the late U series. The bezel on this watch has developed a fantastic color change patina, appearing dark blue in certain light, we were able to catch some of this color change in the photos. This is a one-owner watch that includes the original warranty papers, box, and other pictured accessories including the original sales receipt from 1998 to round out a fantastic collector's set. Take a look at the photos and our condition description below: Case: 40mm stainless steel case with a U serial number indicating 1998 production, with papers dated April 10, 1998. The case is in excellent condition with thick lugs and minor surface wear as pictured. Crown screws down very securely. Bezel: 120 click unidirectional bezel in excellent condition as pictured. The original bezel insert retains the original tritium pearl and has undergone a beautiful color change to a dark navy blue. There are spots of surface wear on the bezel as pictured. Dial/Hands: Original tritium dial and hand set in mint condition free from any damage or defects. Crystal: Original sapphire crystal in excellent condition as pictured, free from scratching or chips. Caseback: Original caseback in excellent condition as shown. Movement: Original Caliber 3135 movement in excellent condition that winds, runs, and sets time as it should. Timekeeping is excellent and the movement just received a service in January 2022. Strap: Original 93150 bracelet with 501B end links with 11 links. Bracelet is in very good condition and shows only minor surface wear. The clasp retains a strong and sharp coronet. Accessories: This watch comes with the original box and filled-out warranty papers, leather paper/accessory holder, a calendar card and translation booklet, and even the original sales invoice as pictured. Price is $11,000 USD shipped insured FedEx overnight CONUS via wire transfer. US sale preferred, international sales will pay the cost of shipping. Face to face in the Boston area also welcome. I have many references available and have been active on this and other forums for many years buying and selling. Please feel free to ask any questions. Thanks for looking! |
