Icon20 DD40 228235 Olive Green - Discontinue?

Hi guys,
New here! Got a question! :D

I have a DayDate 40 228235 with Sunburst - and i would really like that have the Olive Green dial!

Some say it's going to be discontinued soon, so if i order it it might not be able to be delivered, even though my AD would order it for me.

Also - how come the GMT Master II 116718LN Green Dial can still be ordered then? That got discontinued years ago - didn't it?

Hope there's someone who knows more than i do here!

lucky you can get the Sundust dial. You may be aware that Olive dial is very sought after unless you are VVVVIP, otherwise it is very difficult to get it. Most of the ADs don't take any order since last year so don't think you can order it now, again, if you are VVVVIP, then of course your AD will get it for you no matter what. Good luck.
i have put my name down last Aug and of course, being ghosted and no news. haha

You THINK you put in an order but to the AD it was just a "request". You are not getting that watch-it is going for double plus list.
Doubt they will discontinue it but if they do it will hit 150k-for real.

Idk but it's one of the sexiest watches they make. Don't blame you.

No one knows with the DD40 olive. It’s only a week away till this year’s releases come out so not far off. I doubt it’ll get discontinued because it was only released in 2016. Typically Rolex does about a ten year anniversary run~.

Regarding the GMT, just because a watch is discontinued doesn’t mean that dial can’t be special ordered to be swapped. The watch itself can no longer be acquired brand new from a dealer unless it’s severely old stock.

If your AD allows you place an order, you should do it. I don't think it will be discontinued this year. Like stated above, it's difficult to get from an AD.

Sometimes you can get lucky like I did. Where I'm from, rose gold isn't so popular.

Everything gets discontinued eventually you may or may not get it. I doubt the AD will sell you a discontinued watch even if they get it. Put yourself in the ADs shoes hopefully it lives on. The for sale section is going to go crazy first week of April.haha

Thanks for the answer! I think some of you thought i wanted the WATCH, however I'm just talking about buying the dial from Rolex and have them put that in :-)

Well you didn't mention a dial change which I believe is no longer possible for certain dials such as the olive dial. I could be wrong though.

Highly doubt it.

But EVERYTHING will eventually get discontinued and replaced with a newer version. That is one certainty.

At least in my experience, RSC won’t change out your existing dial to the Olive. I bought a rose gold chocolate dial with baguette diamonds and tried getting RSC to swap out for the olive and it was a hard “no.” Luckily enough I was able to pickup the olive dial later so no I have the best of both worlds

That was going to be my suggestion, try to get a dial swap. Give RSC a call and ask. With certain models like Datejusts it's very easy and not extrememely expensive to do a dial change. Not sure about the olive DD40 dial. Can't hurt to ask. Good luck

I think green is pure hype.
The baguette is way nicer!

Had mine swapped chocolate to olive.

They required movement service.

Mine is a 2016 so I jumped at the chance
Didn’t get back the old dial though

I’m sure that was done awhile ago. The RSCs stateside no longer offer swaps to the olive.

it varies, some ADs say yes some say no. but you have to own the watch long enough for this request. Again, just ask RCS and no one knows here.

I purchased new DD with chocolate Roman in August.
Exactly a month later, the watch was already with olive dial and they also let me keep the chocolate dial. All done via RSC.
I’d say it varies a lot, depending on location.
Now the olive dial is “exchange” only.

As of June 1st, absolutely no more dial swaps within the five year warranty period. It’s across the entire catalog, doesn’t matter what reference or desired dial combo. New global policy straight from Geneva. My management contact at Dallas RSC informed me a couple weeks ago.

Even with your warranty expiring the olive dial is still not available for swap. It’s exchange only basis meaning if your original olive was damaged and needed a replacement.

they used to do dial swaps for olive dials but then stopped it used to be 1200 here in Toronto. Now they won't do any dial swaps until warranty has ended and then you can swap the dial however it can't be the olive
