I’d never wear it myself in a million years, and I think the diamonds on the lugs and crown guards look as tacky as hell, but I must be honest and say the choice of stones on the bezel is really beautiful.

Rolex clearly moving away from its roots. What a shame

The DJ31 with blue floral-motif dial... If this was in a pink color scheme my Muse / wife would be all over it.

WOW what a dial!

How does one get one of these "specials" that are not listed on the website?

Are preferred customers invited to order one or is it something that you can ask your AD to investigate for you? I would love that Daytona OF with the orange gemset.

Incredible watch. Those that get it get it. Same reason I purchased a masterpiece in the early 2000s. The gem settings are immaculate. Every stone is perfect.

It’s an off catalog reference. Many of these gemset pieces don’t make it to the regular site.

Here is the press release regarding the new gem set YM40. It’s supposed to model the northern lights. I think it looks incredible and showcases Rolex’s gem setting capabilities. Most forget that they are one of the best in the business and quickly resort to “it’s not my taste”.

Agreed! Rolex gems and setting quality are second to none. Would be a great piece for my wife if we ever get the chance at one.

100%

My wife unfortunately does not wear a watch often but when I showed it to her she loved it (we are OK with blue). I am curious to see this one in the flash but it looks gorgeous in pictures.

But how would you get the AD to allocate you one for each?!

In all seriousness, in terms of engineering/craftsmanship/artistry, this was by far the most impressive new release. Without a doubt. Beautiful without being overly gaudy and truly a work of art.

There's nothing among the new releases I want, but this is the one I thought was the best of the bunch.

I agree with you, to me, this is the most beautiful dial in Rolex catalogue right now. Not sure about punk though but those Blue hues are just insane.

I appreciate the artistry and beauty, but only in the same way I can appreciate a Jean Paul Gaultier creation...not something I would ever wear.
