How will 2022 releases affect ongoing price correction?

Price correction started a couple of weeks back, and is probably still happening..

Pandas for instance dropped significantly but seem to have stabilised slightly..
But how will the 2022 releases affect ? Or not?

Price reversal began a couple months ago, and bottomed out maybe 1-2 weeks ago. They're picking up again.

Recently Fog city vintage listed a panda for 44K, still not sold.

Prices seem to be ticking back up. I only assume they will continue upward trend once we get closer to summer months.

Chrono24 is still the most accurate tool most have. Yes it’s not perfect I agree, but it’s not wildly out in most cases.

I’d hardly refer to Chrono24 as a tool, they are a business with a vested interest.

I only get interested in prices when trying to buy a particular watch. That’s when I’ll look at WatchCharts for a quick snapshot of averages, asking prices, and cleared sales.

Apart from eBay and Chrono24, how do others gauge prices? And how reliable is the data?

There is along way for prices to go before this crazy market corrects - I doubt it ever will

I just hope the seriously ridiculous price hike of platona is corrected and goes back to oct/nov 21 prices. Lot of people speculated it would discontinue and drove up the price like crazy. Really looking forward to adding one at a more realistic price!

Sounds about right, at least in Asia.

I would add that hulk is also coming down slightly.

But I get a sense the correction may be bottoming out..

There is no correction, only fluctuations as there Usually is when something major (eg a war in Ukraine) makes people nervous.

Ever tried to sell a watch for the chrono price? Expect 30% less on a good day

The flat market typically happens as we get close to watch shows and new releases from the big brands. Not knowing what will be released, discontinued or modified puts a lot of buyers on the sideline until everything shakes out. As we move forward I predict, based on prior markets we will see a slight fluctuation in prices and then we will pick back up again. What we have, is what we have. Want a Daytona/Hulk/Pepsi, etc. more than likely it will come from the Grey market. Some will get lucky and get one from an AD but most will not. Just my thoughts.

not forgetting the China/HK lockdown which caused a stockpile in HK and consequent price slashes

but i do believe it will pick back up - just a matter of when.

We all thought Rolex was big on anniversaries..but not quite true.

The 2022 release has shown that they gave no shits about the skydweller’s anniversary 😂

Plus, last year Explorer II had its 50th anniversary, but got only a new movement and coronet between Swiss and Made.

Yeap exactly..

So lesson learnt that we shouldn’t bang too much on Rolex releasing novel/drastically different anniversary models all the time.

Where was this at? Pre owned are still selling $53k-$55K by our trusted sellers here on TRF. 2 just sold last week.

Dude, that particular watch is whipped. If it was clean I was seriously thinking on buying another at that price but way too good to be true. Other watches that are clean and sold like a Sub41LV are $25.5K cash and right in line with other sellers.
