GMT Master II

Today I saw a GMT Master II is an AD's store. It is claimed to be a 2002 Y model. I noticed that it does not have "rolexrolex..." on the ring above the watch face. Should it not have "rolexrolex..." on this area? Also, the store owner wears a GMT master II (2008 model I think) and I asked to see his. As I held his in one hand and and the 2002 in the other, his felt heaviver. Thoughts/ideas?

There never were any old style GMT:s 16710 with engraved flange (rehaut), so it is correct to find no engraving.

The new GMTII is not only heavier, but quite different in style with broader lugs, ceramic bezel, larger triplock crown, all solid and heavy bracelet...

Check out the Rolex web site, or use the search function on this site to research the two models 16710 and 116710.

Best,

A
