40mm YM Rolesium 16622 is the unsung hero
I wrote a blog of this watch a few years ago and I was very impressed of it.
In the second hand market it's much cheaper than equivalent 5-digit Submariner and GMT Master. Platinum bezel, maxi dial, solid bracelet and all that. Why it isn't so desirable? Do people think it's not as fashionable anymore? ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]()

It is a great option. The YM has always been less desirable than the Submariner and GMT Master, and therefore less valued, even though it has a platinum bezel.

Big fan of the YM. The beautiful curved case, stunning dials and PCL really sets it apart from every SS Sub out in the world.

Had one for a while but found it a little monochromatic. Dial was stunning but the bezel always riled me for some reason. Agree with Solo that the case is beautiful though.

I’ve had mine for 16 years and the bezel being delicate is an urban legend. Not true at all.

Great watch. I put a rubberb on and wear it all the time as a beater. Doesn't look like a rolex.

I have the Lady Yacht-Master and love it. My husband likes it on me, but for him, he likes his Submariner date.

People going on waiting lists back in 1999!
https://www.nytimes.com/1999/11/21/s...-platinum.html PULSE; Rolex Goes Platinum This season's hottest disappearing act is Rolex's Oyster Perpetual Yacht Master, in a combination of platinum and steel. Introduced at the annual watch fair in Basel, Switzerland, last spring, the new Rolex started arriving in stores last week, but is already sold out. Priced to fly at $6,800 for the men's size, $5,900 for the midsize and $5,200 for the women's model, the watch is shiny and plain, with a simple platinum dial devoid of any high-tech stopwatch functions or alternate-time-zone gizmos. ''We probably get 15 to 20 requests for it every day,'' said Anthony D'Ambrosia, executive vice president at Tourneau, which sells the watch. ''At this point, it may be up to a year before people on waiting lists can get hold of one.'' |
