If you could only have one??
I know this has been covered other places, but I have not seen the answers, so amuse me like a clown. :-)
If you could only have one Rolex, which would it be and why? For me it would be my YM, but on one condition, it would hav to have the Daytona clasp that I have on it right now. This watch is sporty, classy, dressy and rugged. I love this watch and it feels like the complete Rolex to me. I know there are more popular and more prstigious out there, hell somedays it is even hard for me to decide whether to wear it or the SD, but if I had to choose it would be the Yachtie!! That and it is the only watch my wife has said that looks sexy on me. What would be your only one? |

dman, the YM is a very beautiful watch however, for me the one on my hunt list is the DD. I don't need the diamonds, the rubies, and another sorry (my words) BlInG sport watch ;) For me it hits the Classical elegantance.

Easily the SD. This bad boy's pretty much on my wrist 24/7 these days, and fits in wherever I go and with whatever I wear.

Alex you make my point pal,
there is "one" for everyone and that is why Rolex is so great!! I love my SD, but if I had to choose one, it would be the YM. Different strokes for different folks, even though me and Randy are right.

Duh!!
In case you haven't figured it out yet, it's this one. I love the classic look, the red 24 hour hand and it's versatility. It's a sports/dress watch. Wears equally well with jeans and black tie.

Ed Believe me...
...I can't wait for my older version of that watch to get here!! I was torn between that and the SD if you remember my rambling on the other forum, but with trading the 5513 for it I will have one, and with two bezels to pick from!! It will be here either Saturday, or I have to wait till Tuesday.

Well, it would have to be my first Rolex, a TT blue Sub. I have worn it every day for the last four+ years, except for a couple of days (on which I wore my newest Rolex, a TT DJ).
It is just the most striking Rolex they make, IMO. George Last edited by mbogo; 15 June 2005 at 12:14 AM.. |

If only one
Today I am thinking that I would probably go with either gold and ss GMT ll with black bezel, , or a black and gold Sub. That way would get a great combination of function and some bling, although more subtle than others.

But in answer to your question, D, I haven't yet, but I could and would feel no qualms about it. In fact, we have a couple of weddings coming up that are black tie. I may just wear it then.

I would choose the SD, its really a great watch. Its a shame that many dont give it another look because they think its too heavy or thick. I really love this watch and dont find it overly heavy even though it does out weigh my DJ and GMT2 by more than a little bit.

Roger I agree that the SD gets an unfair bad rap as too heavy or chunky, that is not at all this case with this bad boy. I love mine and it keeps jumping back on the wrist.
Welcome to TRF by the way please stop by and post away!! |

I just sold my Day-Date, so I guess that's not what I want. I like the all-WG Daytona with the new dial, but it looks just like steel, so I wouldn't spend my money on that. Maybe the upcoming Cellini "Prince" would be the one, but I'll have to see the different versions first.

Peter isn't it funny how we trim the collection only to replenish it so often. Congrats on the sale of the DD but what about the Lange you have lusted over for a while?

Hi Daren,
No Lange yet, but I got the new JLC Master Control, which is a nice cheap dress watch with a beautiful movement, and I got a new TT Datejust with the new Jubilee bracelet and the Sunbeam dial. I also got Maureen (my wife) her first Rolex -- a TT Datejust with a Jubilee and blue dial. I'm lusting for the Patek Gondolo 5111 in rose gold, but $17,000 is a lot of money for such a simple watch. ;-) |

I remember you got the DJ, do you love the new bracelet? It seems to be a real winner. As for the PP, show me some pics when you get it so I can drool all over the place, that baby is pure yummy!! |

I guess since she got it about a week after her birthday, I can call it a bday present.
The new Jubilee bracelet is ideal. I've never had a Rolex like it before. When the SS versions of the restyled DJs show up, I'm going to get one of those with the new Oyster. Then I'll have both new bracelets. |

Good point, the styles have not changed since the YM, unless you include adding green to the watch.

Thanks, I heard this place is a friendly place so decided to give it a try. some other boards are really into assuming a lot about Rolex owners, pretty sad. I hope its different here. |
