Are we in a recession?
So I decided to forgo an Omega PO and go straight to a Rollie SD. However, I have found only one AD willing to offer a discount. I thought we are in a recession and most AD would be hungry for sales. If someone lives in South Central PA, please PM me with any AD that would provide a decent discount. Or can anyone provide some useful bargaining tools/ideas?
Thanks a million. |

My AD is willing to bargain a little, since you are out of state, he will require a Casheirs Check as they do not CC over the phone. Plus, since you are out of state, you will save the tax. PM me if you are interested.

SD's may be a bit tougher to get a discount on since they are suppossed to be discontinued. I would expect 10% minimum. However, I would buy a NIB or LNIB from the sales forum here. For example there is a BNIB SD on the sales section for $5200 currently.

Thanks for the information. SD's are going to be discontinued? Wow! The AD was willing to go 10%. I was hoping for just a little bit more to cover the PA sales tax.

Come to Georgia! The AD's are dealing here. I'll pick you up at the airport. And flights to Atlanta are usually pretty cheap. You can buy the BBQ!

Atl, good tip. . . I will have to make an excuse for my boss to send me to Atlanta again for business. The company I work for has an office there. Can we do Barkers Redhots instead? That is some good stuff. . .

Very nice offer from a fellow forum member. However, you don't need to leave the comfort of your home to get an authentic watch, warranty card in your name, from an A.D., at a VERY, VERY good discount . . . IMHO just use the sales forum here--pick a reputable seller (there are several I would trust completely) and you will be enjoying your watch in days. PLUS you will have great satisfaction knowing you saved thousands. PS I am the farthest thing from a seller myself, just a guy who believes we should all get the best price we can on these fantastic timepieces. |

These discount threads continue to amaze me. I keep waiting to see someone talk about the relationship they have developed with their AD and the preferential pricing they receive as a result of that relationship.
But pricing is not the only benefit of building that relationship. By working with one AD the last few years I have had access to new models before they are released to the masses. I have had the opportunity to spec one-off pieces by Rolex through my AD. My wife and I are invited to special events, both AD sponsored and Rolex sponsored. I saw a thread earlier where everyone is gaga over a Rolex pen, you guys are really missing the boat. Now to expect any AD to cut prices to anyone wandering in off the street with the expectation that they won't see this individual again is not realistic. You looking to complete a transaction you deserve the price you get. Now you work to build a relationship and everything changes. Relationships that became friendships have served me well over the years, whether it be watches, cars, property, tailor or anyting else. I recommend taking the time and putting out the effort. |

20% is what I get. If you allow them to think you will be OK with 15 or 10% then this is what you will get.

bolivargig. . . very good post and point well taken. A relationship with an AD is very important and that is what creates the better pricing and customer service. However, a relationship just does not start off without an initial sale. Can I build up the relationship by wandering in from the street weekly to shoot the bull with the sales rep?

Huh?
They are not willing to negotiate? Walk...............
In this economics times, there are lots of other ADs that could use the money. Take your money to a deserving "to survive" AD. Let this one keeps its watch and be out of business with it. I recently purchased 2 SS Daytonas for $9K out the door each from a respected AD here in northern Calif. The same dealer last year told me that I would have to wait years just to get one (not to mention paying the 10% over the MSRP) |
