Daytonas, is there a better watch?

The answer is no :)

The chocolate arrives just in time for Easter.

It feels so different to the ss. Feels strangely quieter and more elegant.

I think I’m done now… or maybe a plat maybe.

Better?

Absolutely.

If you need a date but not a chronograph then the Daytona is a poor choice. The Daytona is also not a dive watch. In the low light of your image the dials on the black and chocolate are difficult to read, I doubt you could read the subdials.

If you are happy then great!

Have to agree Brian although the Daytona IMHO has a chronograph movement in the top 5 of any made to date, I was never a huge fan, myself prefer the dial lay out of the Zenith powered Daytona. Today the Daytona must be the most hyped Rolex watch ever, always been hard to get at retail since the in-house cal 4130 introduced in 2000.Back then when the so called celebrities started wearing the SS versions, you could buy the TT Daytona at ADs, for around what the SS versions were selling at the grey market. Today hype sells watches so Daytona fever is strong for those willing to pay IMHO crazy retail and grey prices.

Great watch, but it is neither my favourite Rolex, (I prefer the DD, DJ, Sub, GMT Master II) nor my favourite chronograph, as I prefer the most important chronograph in history, and that is none other than the Speedmaster Moonwatch.

Congratulations on your Daytona collection, not a watch I like but thats the beauty of this hobby, so many watches to choose from we can't all like the same ones.

Enjoy and wear in good health

Personally, the Daytona is one of the most overrated watches of all time, given the production costs, and the prices being traded at. This gap has to be the largest for any watch ever made.

I don’t find a chronograph function being much use. A date would be better. A rotating bezel would be more useful too. But at the end, we collect watches for different reasons and that’s completely cool. What matters is what the watch is worth to you, and not to others.

The Daytona is my least-favourite Rolex variant, I'm a Sub fan, and I also prefer the Zenith El Primero and Patek chronographs to the Daytona. I have an EP, but not a PP chrono, sadly.

I love your collection but trying to tell the time on the 116500 in your photo is tricky!

For you? Seems like no.
For others? Yes, plenty of other better watches out there.

Wear what you love, there aren't any wrong answers.

Any 3135 or 4130 powered watch is pretty damn solid .
