Are DD40s special order or allocation pieces?

Are all DD40s allocation pieces now, or are some/all still able to be ordered? I requested the new platinum DD and am wondering if an order was placed, or if I am just waiting for an allocation. I'm fairly certain it is the latter.

I was hoping not much demand for a piece at that price level so I'd have relatively soon, yet I am reading/hearing 1-2 year wait. Just trying to gauge whether it really is going to be that long.

Probably both. As for the wait time, varies on your market. Major metro areas can be a couple years I suspect. Smaller market less.

Depends what model DD40, what AD and what client you are….

The ones from a couple of weeks ago? Because they aren't out yet.

Yes. I realize they are not out quite yet, was just curious as to whether I had an order or was waiting for allocation. Sounded like the latter, but I keep reading about this new ordering system/process. Wondering what that is for if not something like the platinum DD. In general, given so many dials/configs on DDs, I would think special orders would be the norm.

Every model is allocation piece now.

But in all seriousness - the day date 40 has exploded in popularity. Its a very popular reference now and wait times have also exploded to well over 12 months.

Its just the way it is these days.

I think the rose/green and the platinums are both now tough to get, and both sell for a big premium in the secondary.

Crazy though because if you want a particular configuration, you can’t order.
You have to wait til they make that and ship to your specific AD, which could be never. A weird way to do things if you ask me, esp. when you have so many dial and bezel choices.
