Daytona Oysterflex

Hi All!

Was curious with your experience in getting the Daytona on Oysterflex! I assume this is a pretty long waitlist like most. Just wanted to set my expectations before going to the AD. Was interested in getting the watch in yellow gold or everose. Was debating between the Daytona or the new yacht master 42 yellow gold. I really like the sporty look of the Oysterflex with precious medal. Now it’s just a matter of getting my hands on one!

Thanks everyone

I’m sure all Daytonas are tough, and I haven’t inquired as it’s not a piece that speaks to me personally, but I have noticed more oysterflex Daytona incomings lately so maybe it’s a little easier than a SS model? Alternatively it may just be proportionately more popular with the TRF crowd so the multiple incomings may not mean it’s easier to get, simply more loved here on TRF.

I wanted to add what dial looks best in person. Sundust and black or ivory for the everose. For yellow gold I like the plain white dial or gold and black. Thanks TRF

I’ve heard a lot of mixed info on timelines for these…I purchased an everose with sundust dial and black sub-dials last month, and the wait was just shy of 2 months after putting in the request. The watch is incredible, I’ve been loving it!

Also I live in a major U.S. city, and my AD appears to get a lot of inventory, but also have tons of clients/interest for nearly every model. Lastly, my SA is fantastic, so that must’ve played into this too.

Hope this info is helpful and you get your choice soon!!

Thank you! The sundust dial look awesome from pictures. Does it appear to be different colors in certain lighting?

It hasn’t gotten much wrist time yet, but from my few wears so far it looks like depending on the sun/lighting it bounces between looking identical to the everose gold tone, to sometimes a more pearly or even white gold tone…but the sundust lines running towards the center of the dial make for a gorgeous aesthetic and texture in any light.

My white gold OF Daytona took a little over a year.

Love my Paul Newman. I recall it taking almost a year to get, but I've had for over a year now. Well worth the wait.

I’m not a OF guy but I found my PM daytona easier than the SS but I got the ss before the pm. Before the SS i purchased a Plat DD.

They way they were offering my the OF daytona to me before i got the Plat DD for me it felt like it was easier than the full PM.

The thing is there are so many variables to this. My SS daytona was a surprise allocation from the AD I technically didn’t wait for it at all but turned up 4 weeks after my Plat DD…

In the end it all “depends” you in the good books with your AD?

Anything with the name "Daytona" on the dial is going to be tough to get these days.

My thought would be to go for the new YM42, unless you're just dead set on a Daytona. Should be easier to get and has the mini glide lock, which, sadly, the Daytona does not. My two cents.

Really wish the Daytona of had the mini glide lock…what a bonus that would be.

The yellow gold with the champagne dial and black sub dials is really spectacular. It's the one I have.

Wait time really depends on your relationship I’m afraid. It’s going to be 1 - 4 years with prior or never as a new customer probably. Which I admit is terrible for genuine new buyers.

What it was for me and others is going vary wildly for you. Some ADs will have a bumper crop some years and you might be lucky.

I picked up one after buying a few others in 2020. Didn’t think I’d like it quite as much a I do. You ignore the OF initially, in favour of full bracelet, but it’s so laid back, casual and under the radar. Almost perfect. Living with the OF for 2 weeks and it softens up to your wrist and feels great!

I like all configs to be honest. Especially the matte black dial with yellow champagne subs with YG case. That’s very nice and pretty unique!

Waiting on the Newman dial oysterflex. About 1.5 year now and I think I have a pretty good relationship

I got the newman in 3 weeks in October 21, asked for the WG in Feb 22 and got it in 10 days. But still no word of any meteorite.

Which do you like better the Newman or the white gold? Those are my two favorites too but I can’t have both…

Got this on a whim a couple of years back. Never would have thought at the time that it would become one of my favorites. It is currently. So versatile, comfortable, nice heft but the rubber strap brings that down to modest weight. It's really perfect in many ways, I love it and wear the crap out of it.

It took me about 9 months in 2021. I was on the ‘list’ at multiple ADs, including a few that I’ve purchased from in the past, but in the end it was a new AD that ended up offering one to me. On the day I picked it up they actually had two for sale. My sense is that these OF models have only gotten more difficult to purchase from an AD.

Davidsw just had one Everose gold with sundust dial for less than $60K.
It seems like the price is going down quite a bit...
Good luck !!!

We forget that these were around 50k only as recently as December! And that felt too high.. Give it more time.

Same here. I was hoping Rolex will implement mini glide in the OF Daytona after the OF YM release but sadly that didn't happen.
