Best entry level Seiko to get someone in to the hobby?
Looking for a gift for the brother-in-law. He's interested in the hobby but has always worn fashion watches. He needs a gateway drug in to mechanical watches. I'm thinking Seiko. Best options for under $500?
Thanks |

The "King" Samurai or "King" Turtle. Sapphire crystal, Ceramic bezel, in house movement that keeps time well. No question in my mind.

SKX, any configuration, but especially black or Pepsi, will be my recommendation as long as they continue to be available from sellers for <$500. Iconic and affordable and proportions to work on almost all wrists.

Okay so just looked at the srp777 and can definitely appreciate the specs on it. But man not a fan of that case shape.
Second best option? |

Look at the Seiko website and find a case shape you like, to start with.

Totally Seiko 5. Just bought one for my mother in law and was stunned at the value. Awesome watches that punch well above their weight and, realistically, remain all the watch you’ll ever need.

It needs to be tried on in person...
It is an awesome shape only appreciated once you strap it on...people are conditioned to the roundish “normal” diver...it looks awesome and is super comfortable.
