2022 releases already hitting greys

2022 releases already hitting greys. Never seen them hit this fast!

https://davidsw.com/shop/watch/rolex...ew-model-2022/

I do not hate second hand sellers. It is however disappointing when a watch I would buy and keep, winds up at a grey a full year before i can expect to even see one.

I did notice DSW started accepting crypto a while back. That can't be working really well for him right now.

depends how he accepts crypto. In the UK crypto can be converted instantly into dollars or gbp and withdrawn IIRC so you are protected.

In terms of 2022 models....yes very dissapointing but not unexpected.

Welcome to the last ten years. It won’t change EVER until the manufacturers want it to change. Doesn’t matter the year, doesn’t matter the market if it is hot or cold the grays will get all the new stuff before you.

I am glad to see the watch. I much prefer when watches are announced that they are in the AD's the same day or very soon thereafter. The price of the new watch and any other details do not impact me as I would not buy it from an AD or Trusted Seller. Not a single release from Rolex this year made my wish list. Good in one way, not so good in another.

I've seen a couple of the 2022 releases around the forums the past few days (left hand GMT comes to mind). I'm not sure if Rolex is prioritizing certain models, but it seems the supply is a little better than last year. I was looking for a blue fluted dial 36 and didn't see a listing without a stock photo for several months.

Regarding the crypto, I have no doubt he is converting most, if not all, to fiat immediately. I believe there are backend systems that do it automatically for retailers. Even if there is a small chance of price change before it cashes out there are margins built in.

Interesting price. We'll have to see on that.

They are in the hands of the grey market as soon as the first retail seller gets one. Who wouldn't flip an MSRP for a profit? No watch is worth not making five figures of tax-free profit.

I offered $45850 and they said they don’t deal in fantasies. That’s up the road at Disney World.

Then hung up.

I think I’m wearing them down.

Waiting for the day the watches and wonders videos show Rolex just handing the watches to the greys to sell. I kid, I kid…

I do not get it... Rolex AD (owned by the manufacture) in Geneva will receive the 2022 demo models in late June or July...

Yes - Greys get the stock first to build desirability perception, and establish price floor. Once that’s done, then Rolex directs some remaining stock to their boutiques…

I would have expected just that. But...

This makes so much sense suddenly. I have never so much as nibbled on the rolex/grey conspiracy stuff but what you just described totally matches what I see with my very own eyes.

But I still do not get it...

The Rolex AD is actually a boutique (owned by Rolex). It has all the crazy pieces, is a few kilometers from the manufacture, and the whole watch world VIPs were in Geneva these last 2 weeks (for the auctions).

OP - those watch dealers (and other vendors) don’t technically get paid in crypto, rather they link a crypto to fiat exchange to their POS payment platform which converts from crypto to fiat instantly (after the system takes a spread). So the merchant (grey) never sees/gets crypto currency, just fiat at the rate of that precise second

They don’t hold, for instance, bitcoin.
