1969 red Submariner

Have a red Sub that needs a clean and adj. If I send the watch to Rolex in Dallas, apparently I loose control of what I want done and if I object any work will not be done and wave my deposit bye-bye. They are at liberty to destroy an heirloom and collectors watch. Sorry, This ole boy aint playing that game.
Somewhere in Boca or along Rt.1 there is a watch shop that can do the work.
The way I want it done.

Concur. I’ve had Phillip Ridley in Arizona service my 14060M with great results. I see two main advantages over RSC. One, he’s responsive and you get to communicate your needs and expectations directly with the watchmaker. With RSC it’s more detached as you can and should communicare in writing when you send the piece either directly or thru an AD. Two, Ridley is a bit quicker than RSC for the turn around. 6 weeks vs. 8 weeks. RSC has been improving the turnaround time. I would not have RSC service a vintage piece that, according to them, may need replacement of the dial, hands, or case to bring it to spec. For neo vintage pieces, like my 16700 GMT, serviced by RSC Dallas recently, a Rolex service is fine and you get a 2 year warranty card plus the added bonus of a Rolex travel pouch. For the 16700 I replaced my faded red/blue bezel insert with a new one and got the original insert back. In terms of the cost of service RSC is competitive with the best CW21 watchmakers out there.

Has anyone had a vintage piece serviced by Rolliworks after they moved to Miami?

@GMBorovic
I sent a 5513 off to Rolliworks when they were located in CA and here are the results of the finished product. Their work was fantastic at a very reasonable price. In no way, shape or form am I discounting Ridley who has an excellent reputation, I just wasn't aware of them at the time.

Hello Styles, my red sub is going in for internal clean/adj. Absolutely no cosmetic work at all. The visible parts, dial, hands, crystal, bezel, etc, are all perfect. The dial and bezel are
still that black/charcoal color. No need to change any visible parts or buffing or polishing of the case or bracelet.

Dan, not quite perfect. There are the everyday scratches. The watch is 53 years old and has been worn everyday since dad bought it and passed it to me. I know it sounds sentimental and corny, but every time I check the time, I think of Dad. Im probably the only one on the Forum that thinks that way. Just an old softie at heart. Im also a sucker for grand kids and puppies.

I am in the exact same boat you are. I don't think it's sentimental or corny either. Bob Ridley currently has my (dad's) 1970 Red Sub and I can't wait to get it back. He wore it every day and I think of him every time I look at it.

Hello keever, keep me posted on your experience. Apparently Fed-X delivered safely.
My first hurdle is entrusting Fed-X with transport to AZ. So I will feel relieved when Phil notifies me of safe delivery on this tues. Ole softie Mike.
