I tried the 6 digit Subs...
But in the end I sold them and went back to my 14060m...

Similar experience here. Tried 6 digits, but traded for 5 digits

Lovely, however I prefer the 6 digits.

By the time I reached the same conclusion as the OP, the price of the 5 digits had gotten ridiculous, and so I'm stuck with ... well, no Subs.

I think the 5 digit subs are definitely more attractive to me as well. The only 6 digit I really like is the 36mm steel explorer.

The world really needs a Sub Classique. 12 Series refinements in a 5 digit case size.

The only 6-digit model I'd pick over a 5-digit model is the 114270 Explorer...except it's really just a 5-digit watch in all but name. I'm surprised they didn't just call it the 14270M.

Made the switch years ago and couldn’t be happier. I also like the fact that all my 5 digits have gone up 2-3 times what I originally paid for them.

I much prefer my 5 digits pieces. Much more comfortable and they’re workhorses, not jewelry!

5 & 6 digits Subs were my 1st few mechanical watch.
Had to sell em as more than 25 blokes at workplace decided to imitate me & buy em. There’s even occasion at least one other person in each traffic light along Orchard, City Hall, Raffles are spotting one, and this was aeons ago. These days, history repeat with >30 ppl in my workplace office tower which has over 50 co, spotting a Tiffany/Coral/Yellow/Green OP41/36/31. Pre-C19 when I visit ShangHai, every man is walking around with a 6 digit & every lady an LV |

Cool Sub. Those two-liners look odd but in a great way.
My 12 was my first Rolex, I wouldn't trade it for anything else, and I will be like you 30 years from now. Tried the new one, didn't like it, went back to my 12. lol |

As much as I love 5 digits models I do prefer the newer 126610 model. It just feels right wearing it. And I’m 6.5 inch wrist too. Wore mine all day yesterday & even at the local indoor shooting range.

The M, in my view, is/was the high-water mark for the Submariner: was never better before, hasn’t been better since. All the ingredients of awesome are there—5-digit case proportions, lug holes, wg-surround indices but not the busy rehaut engraving, aluminum bezel, and a perfectly minimalist 2-line dial. I really don’t need to buy a Sub, but if I were going to, that’d be the one.

I have both...a 5 digit SEL A series with holes in the case and a new 41mm Sub Date. Both are great but the feel of the new Sub, the size, the glide lock bracelet, the ceramic bezel, it's just a much better looking and feeling watch. Both are great but I'm keeping the 6 digit and giving the 5 to one of my sons as a graduation gift. It's really a matter of personal preference.

As the market cools and the prices of good example five digit pieces start to come down, I'm contemplating trying to flip my 114060 for a 16570 polar.

Traded a 114060 for the 16613. I'll have these two forever!

While I prefer the newer 6-digit references, your photo is captivating to say the least.

5-digit Subs got me into Rolex but 6-digit Subs are what kept one on my wrist. Although I like the proportions of the 5-digit models, I love the updates to the modern Sub.

5 digits look too flat and wide for me.
New subs all the way (also with the added new movement and power reserve) |
