How many times have a stranger/non stranger commented on your Rolex?

Please state how long you have owned the watch for as well

I have owned my SD43 for over a year now and a friend commented on it once during lunch.

Is person a synonym for stranger/non stranger? If so, 2357281937 times.

One time...so far

Standing at HyVee grocery store's Chinese takeout line....when my turn comes the Chinese guy is eyeing my wrist. Loudly he says "Is that a Rolex?" I said yes...hesitantly. He rounds the corner with the giant spoon in hand before I even had the chance to answer. I had on the 126200 Blue Datejust. He was quite happy....but it did not translate into getting more lo mein and fried rice. Oh well....

I had a guy at a convenience store ask if my 16200 silver stick dial DJ was platinum in 2012, I had a guy at a restaurant say "nice watch" about my 16570 Exp II in 2016. That's about it.

No one has said a word about my 114270 Explorer. In fact, my neighbor was asking me about Rolex watches the other day, and he was completely unaware that I was wearing one. lol

Worn various Rolexes for 10 years. Datejust, oyster date, explorer. Gets a few comments here and there but usually the other people noticing are also wearing a Rolex.

Sorry, I don’t keep track of the times people compliment my watch.

Keep in mind I work in a former AD in Michigan, but between my serti GMT, and my Tudor GMT, and gold nipple 1675/3 I've lost count on the amount of compliments I've gotten. Oddly enough as much as it happens in store, the amount of compliments I get on flights or the last time I was in NYC a couple weeks ago blew me away.

I took both the serti and Tudor to NYC for a business/pleasure trip.I took the serti off while I was traveling in queens on the subway, but wore my Tudor in the bronx and got compliments.

From Manhattan, to Queens, then to the Apollo in the bronx I never felt unsafe wearing any of them.

Now my grail 16718 serti would have been a different question, but I was amazed at the compliments I got, and some of the amazing pieces I saw in passing traveling.

Had my 214270 for almost 4 years and my 116610 ln for 2. Never had a random compliment. Then again, no one does that here in Japan. If someone did, I'd be worried lol.

Never until recently. I would say in the past 2 years I have gotten more comments from randoms while out and about than in the previous decade.

Almost all the comments boil down to "whoa dude nice GMT! Do you have any idea what those are going for now?"

Its gotten a bit awkward and embarrassing at times. I miss the old days when these watches flew under the radar.

too many times to count recently with my root beer and pepsi. to be honest i’m not a fan of the attention and it makes me a bit uncomfortable especially with everything going on today. would rather have them fly under the radar and Tudor/Omega help with that.

In 5 years of wearing them, maybe 5-6 times, always either by another watch dork or ppl who are affluent and like to brag about it.

Owned a sub for 3.5 years. Had two "Nice watch" comments and had a few people stare at it. One from a cashier at grocery store and another at a Ritz Carlton. I held the door for a guy and as he passed through he said "Nice Sub". He was wearing a Pepsi so of course I said "Nice Pepsi."

Been wearing a rolex almost daily since 2008. Many many many more interactions and comments than I could begin to count

My 36mm Datejust seems to get all the love from strangers. I think it just looks fancier than my Submariner.

I get more comments on my Breguet Tradition than any other watch by a pretty wide margin. Sky, Sub, GMT? Almost never.

It’s happened twice to me:

1. The co-owner of a cigar lounge I go to occasionally made a comment abt my DJ41.

2. A few weeks ago, the guy taking my Chick-Fil-A said “Nice watch” as I pulled up to him with my DD 1803.

Ive had the DJ since Dec. 2018 and the DD since August 2020.

Most people that comment on mi”y timepieces, are just attracted to the PM’s in my collection.

When I enter any decent jewelry/ watch store I get comments. My Nautilus 7128r gets lots of compliments from people “That’s a really beautiful watch!” is very common comment.

Other collectors or watch amateurs do acknowledge a nice watch I wear.

A lot of people look, but do not say anything.

For my part, I comment only to people that I might find interested in their style , or personality, or
vibe, but
at the right moment/ and place. I do not want to embarrass anyone ir call too much attention.

When I get a compliment I respond “Thank you!”.

A couple of times, throughout the years, I get
the question of “How much does that cost” , I reply, “Unfortunately a lot. I collect watches and and add some were my parents, or I bought this one for my 40tj
bday, or when I made partner.”. But I have also shared the the wend it has pricing in most models.

I like to hear .”Great watch!”
but no about cost or how I got it.

The best one ,again, just a plain “Thank You!” it’s best.

The few times my watch was mentioned was not exactly a compliment, except to infer that I have money to spend.

Rarely do I receive any comment; of course, that doesn’t mean people don’t notice.

I sat at the bar tonight wearing my WG sub LB the bartender and the two ladies at the end of the bar both noticed and complimented my watch. It happens all the time to me.
