So very true, but honestly, I think you are generous with the 99.9%.

I saw this 60mm of sparkleyness clear across the breadth of a crowded Costco....

But otherwise no, not really.
These days if a stranger asks me "Is that a Rolex" I might pepper spray them, just to be on the safe side...

Absolutely yes.

There's a cigar lounge near me, I can probably spot 6 Subs every time I walk in.

I can see a Rolex a mile away... the TeleVue Ethos 6mm really helps. A really good scope works too of course.

If someone is into watches, yes. If you are in a jewelry shop, probably. Otherwise, not really for more typical Rolex models. Giant Diesel and Invictia watches with fake diamonds and 52mm bezels get a lot more attention.

I complimented a guy with a Zenith a few weeks ago and he seemed more surprised and excited by this than if we put a man on Mars.

The cyclops used to give it away but now it could easily be a Seiko if you're more than a few feet away

There are usually only 2 people who care what watch you're wearing, watch fans and thieves

The watch equivalent of spinner rims! Heck, I wouldn't want to drop that on my foot much less wear it. That watch is 2 bag ugly.

Other watch enthusiasts will notice, but nobody else. I have received FAR more compliments on my cheap $75 Fossil watch than any Rolex or high end watch I have owned.

So do not buy a Rolex hoping that you will receive compliments or that anyone will notice. Watch enthusiasts are fairly rare out in the wild.

My James Cameron has been noticed some, but you can tell not by real watch people usually since the most common question I get is if it’s a submariner. More people look and don’t say anything though. I am mindful of where I wear it for safety’s sake but I really don’t care if anyone notices it or not; I bought it for me to reward a lot of hard work and sacrifice it took to be able to afford it in the first place.

This one enters the room before I do. No comments from anyone, though. Could it be intimidating? IDK.

TRF: "nobody cares about your watches!"

also TRF: "the world is going crazy, everyone craves Rolex, social media took away our hobby!"

that said, yes, Rolex are being recognized, especially those with Oyster bracelets, but ofc it depends on the setting you are in.

No interest in being noticed. And prefer that others do not.

Wear my watches for my own enjoyment.

Well put. Depending on the venue, onlookers may well be trying to pay for baby formula.

Welcome to the forum.

You should try to attend a watch event at an AD sometime. That’s where you’ll spearmint up meaningful conversation with other enthusiasts
