Help me get a GMT Master 2 Coke

I think I actually may want a GMT Master Coke. I’m trying to figure out which one to buy. From what I can tell, my options at the 16760 Fat Lady and the subsequent 16710.
I actually like the six digit references, but I like the history and the look of this watch.
So which one would you get. At first I figure the Fat Lady because I like a substantial watch. But maybe there’s a benefit to the later reference, I don’t know. All I really know is I want an oyster bracelet. And maybe one with solid end links.

So which should I target. I want to balance movement and comfort and cost. What’s my most cost effective option?

And finally, should I wait? Do we expect this to come down in price over the next few months?

I’d love to hear if anyone has experience with these. And if there’s any advice I haven’t thought about. And as always pics are welcome.

Thanks!

I’m not sure the Fat Lady has solid end links. I just picked up a 16710 and put a 97200 glidelock bracelet on it. I can’t recommend this setup enough.

Thanks for the response. How do you acquire the bracelet? Since it wasn’t originally on that watch, I imagine you can’t get it from Rolex. So is secondhand the only option?

Ordered from my AD. No problem……other than the price.

I have a 16710 z serial which I think was last year it was made 2005 or 2007 can't remember.

It has been at times my most often worn watch and has received a lot of comments and was always noticed...This was back in the day before the mania.

I just went and got 3 Bezels..No idea why I bought a Pepsi bezel as there's one on the watch but also got the Black and the Coke bezels. They are authentic OEM Rolex and I think I paid $300 each.

Just to mix it up, I did get a Jubilee which is on it now and I love it! I have a lot of watches and most or all are on Oyster and I want to mix it up. The bracelet cost about $1250.

Some great things about the Jubilee is how light it is and also doesn't show scratches I've heard but don't check.

In short you have 6 combinations, 3 bezels and 2 bracelets.

Can't recommend it enough.

The six digit bezels either can't be changed or it's not a do it yourself job if they can.

SEL can be found on 2001-2002 & up 16710, it wasn’t available on the 16760 back then. You also get the more modern movement & modern flip lock clasp w the 16710 or on later models 2007-2008 the optional 3186 which command a higher premium for whatever reason. If it were me I would find a clean full set 2001 or so & up 16710A on oyster.

Good choice. I would look for a later 16710 with lug holes and sel bracelet. Also I’d try to find one with an original serif Pepsi insert that you can retain in safe keeping after you install an easily found coke insert. Not sure this is mentioned much but a worn 16710 with hollow link bracelets have a tendency for the spring bars to mar the serial and reference numbers on the case. Mine has after over 20 years of constant use which doesn’t bother me because I will never part with it but I wouldn’t want that now if I were searching for another. I purchased my 16710 new in 2000 and I can honestly say there is no Rolex model modern or vintage I would trade it for.

I am with JP on that choice Blue. But in my opinion, you can't really go wrong, whichever you decide.

Tough call on timing the purchase. Struggling with that right now myself, as I am sure are many. The flip side is that nice 5 digit examples seem to be getting harder to find. Think I am going to err on buying sooner rather than later. Good luck.

16710 and 16760 are both superb but don't rule out a 16700. Great watch with quick set date an should be able to take a Coke insert.

What’s the difference? Is it just the Coke Vs Pepsi Bezel?
It looks like the Pepsi model is cheaper. Why is this if the Bezels can be switched out? Can the bezels be easily switched out?
