New addition - Daytona 116520 or YM 126655?
Hi,
First post here. Really like the forum. I want a new watch. I have been longing for a (pre ceramic) Daytona forever now. But never had the funds for it and prices going up and up. On the other hand I want my first PM watch. The RG Yachtmaster looks so great. However, the 116520 are not getting made anymore, so maybe last time to grab one and prices have relaxed a little bit. In my collection I have a DJ41 in blue and a 14060M. Both watches will never go. Recently added a Zenith Chronomaster Sport and Skyline, but you know how is it, they are no Rolexes What would you do? Price is nearly comparable between those two models. There is a slight chance to get the 126655 someday with retail as I am on the waiting list. But could be 5 months or 5 years. Thanks for your input! Best Regards, Osmin |

I am also picking up the 126655 Yachtmaster, I have handled it in person and its amazing....especially with the mini-glide lock they added to the clasp. I would personally take this over a 116520 any day of the week....but everyones tastes are different.

It is a matter of personal choice, I will go with the Daytona 116520.

It’s a tough decision. Originally wanted the SS YM with slate dial. But then also tried on the RG version. It’s so beautiful. And it would be my only modern sport Rolex. The sub is too chunky for me.

My preference goes towards the 116520, I was never a fan of the YM lineup.

I've got two Daytonas, one YM40, and one Sub 41. I wouldn't want to part with any of them. If you like both watches, I'd go for which ever is most available to you and hope to pick-up another one later.

Tough choice. I’d really be excited about getting my first PM Rolex, but having a Daytona in the collection is special as well.
If I were making the choice for me….at some point I’d strive to have both a PM and a Daytona, so I’d pick the one I’d enjoy the most “right now”. Or I’d wait and save (hopefully prices still have room to come down if buying grey) for a PM Daytona….2 birds…one stone |

As others have noted, you should really strive for the one you’re more enamored with otherwise settling will never scratch the itch.
Having said that, I own the RG YM as well as white & black ceramic Daytonas. I wear the YM much more as it can be worn under the radar, I’ve become a huge fan of Oysterflex, especially with mini glidelock and it’s simply gorgeous. |

Sounds like the Daytona is where your heart is.
The YM can be added down the road and it's a current production piece. Or sell off some of your collection and have a great duo with the Daytona AND YM. |

I would sell the DJ41 and the Zenith watches and put the funds toward the Daytona you want. Might need to add some cash but it will be close. This will give you three great watches and two that are truly collectable discontinued models. You can pickup a DJ and Zeniths anytime you desire. Let us know what you decide.

The YM would be a great modern watch whereas the Daytona is a classic. And yes, both Zenith will be sold soon |

Thanks all for your kaput. The Zeniths will be sold.
Tending to buy the Daytona first and see if at some point the call for the YM comes. I won’t pay 30% premium on a PM watch. Maybe by that time I have enough funds again. |

That's a hard choice but no matter what you decide, you can't go wrong as both are great pieces.

Get the Daytona now while the prices are down and keep your name on the list for the YM

Have both. The Daytona bored me to death after a couple months, and doesn’t have a date, and is illegible.
My 126655 still gives me extreme satisfaction every time I pick it up. Such an incredibly badass piece, and the meanest rolex in the lineup. Under the radar, yet still pops for the right crowd. IYKYK. |

Tough choice, but I have really gotten over the 116520 as it looks a bit dated. The YM is something totally different, and you do not come across them too often.
On the flipside, the 116520 has some collectible aspect to it, if you find one that is unpolished and full set. They ain't making any more of them, but they sure as hell are scratch magnets. |

RG YM for me, but I'd much rather have the rotating/timing bezel and date. I end up wearing it all the time on these summer days.
The Oyster Flex is very comfortable But, if the SS daytona has been on the bucket list for a long time then you may not be happy till you give it a shot

If the condition of the daytona is great, daytona for sure. But if the condition sucks or its been (over) polished... I'd go ym.

Too much thinking.
1. Sell the Zeniths. soon they will be easily had at discounts. 2. Buy the Rose gold yachtie 3. Buy the 116520 or 16520 Can buy grey at reasonable prices soon. Quote:

It's the opposite in my opinion, I've owned both in different variations over the years but find the platinum bezel to be special on the Yacht Master, also never scratched it!

126655 vote here.
These are vastly different watches. 116520 and all Daytonas look small on my 7-3/8” wrist. The 126655 is only 40mm but it just appears bigger than 2mm larger than the Daytonas. Add in rotating bezel, date, legibility, mini glide lock, Oysterflex, and oh yea…Rose Gold |

Nice to hear that the forum is as undecided as I am ;)
Both Zeniths are already for sale. So some time to think until they are sold. Yesterday I was leaning towards Daytona, today Yachtmaster. Probably at some point I need both, so who do I kid |
