Is it possible to cusomize rotor of 26574 (QP)?

I read somewhere that is should be possible to "customize" the rotor of a 26574.

To have some text added on the rotor? Curious to know if someone here knows anything about that.

Thanks! Do you know if it is only possible if you get it delivered initiall, or also if you allready have it?

When I got my first AP in 2020 (15500) my SA told me I could get a custom rotor for it at any time.

Rotor customization is only possible on the JLC-based ultra thin movements (not possible on the 15500). The sky is pretty much the limit with the design — they’ll do initials, logos, family crests, etc.. You’ll work with the after sales team who will coordinate with a designer in Le Brassus to finalize the design, then it takes 6-8 months to produce. A really fun process — highly recommended if you have the patience and plan to keep the watch forever.

Good to know. I’d seen an IG post of someone with their initials on the 15202, which is what made me ask my SA. Guess he was wrong about the 15500 🤷*♂️

The reason they gave on why it's only possible on the JLC-based movements is that the rotor is attached at the center AND slides along a beryllium ring. This means that the rotor is much more stable and doesn't need to be 100% perfectly weight balanced to oscillate properly. However, on the older caliber 3120s and the newer caliber 4302 in the 15500, the rotor is only attached at the center so the weight balance needs to be perfect.

Mine was a little over $5k for an elaborate design with open working. I don't know if it's a flat cost or if it depends on the design complexity. They also charged about $500 for a "water resistance / partial service" to install it, regardless of whether the watch is new or not.

Roughly $5k in cost and they can do it on any open caseback watch. I plan to do it to my Diver. SA told me they work on it and then let you know when it's ready, they send it to Clearwater and you send your watch there for the work to be completed. Just don't know if the old one will be returned.

Unfortunately they keep the old rotor

I'd recommend calling Clearwater directly to ask about which watches are eligible (SA's don't always have the best info...). As of 6 months ago it was only on the JLC-based ultra thin movements for the reason I described in another post.

I asked my SA awhile back about custom rotors, and as of February 4, 2021, her answer was "Calibres 2120, 2121, 5134, and on most major complications (i.e. perpetual). The total cost is approximately $7,300 ($5,500 + service fee $1,760)." She also mentioned how that might change due to new movements being introduced.

In April of this year, when I was at the service center in Clearwater, FL, I was told by a watchmaker that a custom rotor is possible for any movement they offer. However, some movements would require a profound relationship with AP and must be approved by AP Corporate and then a final sign off by Switzerland.

The QP RO 26574 uses calibre 5134, so it should 100% be possible! Just ask your SA or give Clearwater a call.

Yes, this sounds correct! In all my research I only saw one or two custom rotors that fell outside the norm, and they were for celebrities.

I was offered an engraving on the case back sapphire, not the rotor, on a 2019 15500. Didn't do it, but that's what the boutique said could be done.

This is very interesting….had no idea you could customize rotor at all. If I just got a 15720st, which has blackened anthracite galvanic treatment, could I request a yellow gold rotor?

Yes, but I believe it is by invitation only. I went with a friend of the brand as a guest and had a phenomenal experience. It really gave me a deeper understanding of watchmaking and a much greater appreciation for the brand.
