While walking past my AD I had a look at their Panerai collection and was amazed at the prices of these watches. Are they a better quality of watch or more sought after than a Rolex and what makes the prices so high?

i think there are not a lot made and they are individually numbered etc and they have a huge following (per my AD). i honestly dont know much about the brand, but certain there are panerai guys on this forum who will provide info.

The larger numerals and faces make it easyer for old people to read - and the old are more easily conned.

Maybe because they more limited in production than Rolex.
Panerai production around 40,000 items peryear, and Rolex made around 1,000,000 peryear. BOTH is GREAT. No competition here, please... |

1- simple clean design makes a watch with complicated functions look so seamlessly and effortly achieved.. this is in my opinion supreme architectural and design success.. 233 great example 2- you can read it at a glance... 3- you can hear the tic tic without that rotor getting in the way 4- you can change the straps blindfolded.. making a special, limited watch very individual.. 5- once you put it on.. there is no going back.. as everyone will testify... 6- read my motto |

The market dictates the price, if Panerai sell their watches at a certain pricepoint then they will move the price up, once it starts to stall they will hold the price, it's the same with Rolex, but with nearly a million watches a year they will always stall before the smaller companies.
The basic thing to remember though, all watches are overpriced, it's just the fact that they usually hold their value better than other things that make you pay the money, a Rolex Submariner is not worth £3900, it was a £2350 watch less than 3 years ago, and it still is, but if Rolex sell 95% of the submariners they produce, and they're worth £3400 on the secondhand market then they're not that bad of a buy, especially if they rise in price again and the s/h market rises as well, the exact same happens with all other watches.

Try a PAM then decide as others have mention - I had not even heard of Panerai 6 months ago and now I have a 233
![]() Limited numbers (all individually numbered), not as well known (I like that), the pure looks make me smile every 5 minutes I look at her ![]() I was convinced I was going to get a GMT IIC a few months ago until I tried a PAM on - dont under-estimate the power of this watch once its on your wrist. All IMHO. Enjoy Life |
