1965 6238 Dial
May I ask the professionals to help me with this dial?
It(s) "seems to be" a 1965 Cosmograph 6238 Dial in silver. It is in good condition (excluding the lume). What do you guys think? The "-" next to the TSWISST is missing but obviously a 1965 issue, isnt it? The finish seems a bit off?! Thanks in advance. You can click the images for high res (hopefully high enough). |

I've more knowledge on Post 68 Cosmo's - but these 62-68 pre Daytonas (Lazenby 007/OHMSS ) are so classy, and less showy, in full silver, than later Cosmo's. I prefer the silver to black even though a quarter of the price!
So from hazy memory 'I think' there are two types of silver finish of dial and this is the fatter numeral non -swiss- like the 67 below (a). The -swiss- had different thinner number font easily spotted by looking at the 8s in tachymeter c 65 below (b) A) Rolex Chronograph £50,000 https://chrono24.app/rolex/rolex-chr...GB&SETCURR=GBP B) Rolex Chronograph £51,638 https://chrono24.app/rolex/pre-dayto...GB&SETCURR=GBP Edit: just seen one with same width letter font below, so two fonts used it seems. I'm sure there are much greater 6238 expertise here on the forum who can advise on this very clean sunburst dial. As such, consider my post primarily a 'bump' rather than gospel. Thank you so much Paul!
This is really fantastic. I was not sure if it is legit, regarding the style in the subdial area. Most dials are flat and do have sth. like a 90° step and a 45° after this. The dial shown seems to be a bit round / curvy. Its difficult to describe. But do I understand that right, the dial seems to be legit, or? Thanks in advance |
