Drunk Wimbledon Dial, AKA Serena Willams Special
Came across this watch and had to buy it. Model 116333, box/papers, all original ... and a DRUNK dial.
Somehow Rolex allowed such a glaring mistake to pass quality control. Take a look at the Roman numerals - they are perfect! Now take a look at the white chapter ring - whoever printed this dial was drunk, as everything in white is turned counter clockwise. Vlad P.S. Serena Williams was accused of being drunk at the 2014 Wimbledon tournament. |

If Rolex made a mistake on the dial, best believe I wouldn’t pay more for it.

I'm just surprised this dial made it to the market. Yes, Rolex had issues with their dials - spider dials, cream dials, chocolate dials, etc. but all these defect were identified way way after the dials entered circulation.
Has anyone else seen anything like this? I like it a lot, as I like weird and unique things - and one of a kind Rolex dial, especially on a popular model really makes me smile. |

The appeal of these "error" dial watches runs both ways. Many wont touch them even at a discount and some will want them because of the quality control mistake. Its a interesting topic why someone would buy or not buy these models.

My Wimbledon 41 is SS so it may be different but it doesn’t have a ‘30’ a the 6:00 position, it just says ‘Swiss Made’ with the crown between the words…

I bought a 116600 from a well known grey dealer a few years back. I noticed on closer inspection the bezel had articulations only up to 15 mins like a sub instead of all 60 mins like the seadweller should have. Sent it back in a heartbeat and got a full refund. Looking at that dial you have op would drive me crazy, but to each their own.
