Official rolex signs!!!
As I reported here a few days ago, I was alerted to a great opportunity by a good friend of mine. This friend knew that I loved Rolex watches and mentioned to me that a guy that lived near him had some old Rolex stuff. This neighbor had no need for these "things" and when he heard I was interested in buying a few of them, he got excited.
I drove more than one hour to his home and walked back with him to his garage. There, wrapped in old bath towels were these three great Rolex signs...two for on the countertops, the other to hang in a window. Although not in the best condition, I had a lot of trouble hiding my emotions. I happened to ask him about any other Rolex items and he did not have an immediate answer. Not wanting to press to hard, I took out my money and put down what I thought was fair. He took it and said thank you. Here are the pictures...please excuse the quality. The GMT and the ROLEX countertop signs are the same size but different in display type. GMT is a color slide that is bottom lit where as the ROLEX sign is transparent lucite with the letters suspended in the middle; it also is lit from below. They both measure 12 inches across and 16 inches high plus the base. GMT sign made by Guillame and ROLEX sign made by Luminique. The large ROLEX OFFICIAL JEWELER sign is lit from above and is meant to be suspended; there is a chain on each of the top ends. This sign measure 32 inches across and 22 inches high plus the top. This sign is light weight lucite with the large letters affixed to the back. There is a slight scratch on the right side and the light on the top left needs to be replaced. They will look great in my library along with some of my Colin and Cassandre posters. |

Do you know the "vintage" year of these signs?
I like the GMT Master one and judging from the picture, that watch seems to have the older non SEL bracelet. But I can't be sure and that sign is probably older than most of my watches...
