Where does Rolex get their Meteorite?

Hello everyone...

One of my favorite watches for quite some time has been the wg DD with the meteorite dial but it is pretty pricy so i've been holding back on pulling the trigger and getting it. I was wondering though if anybody really knew where Rolex got their meteorite from? Do they just go hunting around the world for small rocks that they can cut up and place in the dial? And also, what do they do to it? How does it go from a rock to the dial we see in the watch? Any info would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks!
Albert

You mean it doesn't fall from space with the Rolex markings already on it?

I don't know where they get them, but I sure do love it.

I only knew about where the BOVET saguro chronograph meteorite watches got theirs from, from watchtime. It was a meteorite called the Gibeon meteor in Namibia Africa, wich was a very big hunk of space, so I suppose rolex has simmilar sources for theirs as well

I'm pretty sure its actually not a meteorite but rather just a polished, thin slice of rock. Because it looks different, I think they call it a meteorite to sound cool. And charge hundreds of times more than they're worth of course...

That one was a hunk as far a meteorites go. I would guess its all in the finishing and wich part of said rock was harvested, kinda like jade I guess but from space

And to add that all the pieces Rolex has that are meteorite are different and distinct from every other piece. So thats very cool if you meet another person who has say a WGM Daytona to compare. I would be stoked to do so
Cheers again

I didn't even know there were martians, or that they had credit cards to purchase stuff, i wouldn't like to think of the price for postage for that sale

I guess that's why they say that you need to inquire for the price!! The good thing though is that Martians do have a great rate of conversion for the Martian Midits!

in searching this question, i ran into this cool cat:

http://www.stefandials.com/service.htm

and this Speculation:
http://watchismo.blogspot.com/2007/0...meteorite.html

others speculate that it is from the Gibeon Meteorite that supposedly fell to earth 12,000years ago.......

GREAT QUESTION!

I know, however, that the dials do not come from materials on Mars. That is because I regularly travel there in my spaceship and I asked the Martians, and they told me.....pause, pause, pause, pause.......'not'!*

Now Now, thats express Light speed. It takes 3 to 4 parsect's to reach our quadrant of the milky way. And they gotta run the Kesslar run too. Do you know how hard it is to navigate a worm hole when all your physical being turns into light? its like tying your shoelace for 50 years a day 80% of the time while you lose train of thought then BAM! your thereHOLOGRAPHIC!

china more than likely

though given the size of the dial and assumed thickness a single $2,000-$3,000 would be enough to make thousands of dials
