Submariner LN vs CHNR Root Beer

Debating on letting my Sub 41 LN go for a Root Beer.

What do you guys prefer?

That’s a tough decision on either or, if you can I would add the CHNR. Both are 2 totally different watches that look fantastic. The LN more for daily and you can wear the other on certain occasions.

Two very different looks. I'd take the Sub between those two but a BLRO over both.

The Root Beer is stunning, but I would keep the Sub.

The CHNR is such a special piece. All the tones work so well together.

However, if we’re talking about only having one watch, the Sub is the best choice. It goes with everything and is more understated in a way that can be dressed up or down easily.

FWIW, I think the Explorer is the most versatile followed very closely by the Sub. Obviously the Sub is probably one their toughest offerings and is well suited as a daily.

This would TRULY be a tough choice for me! 2 totally different watches, but they go well together in a duo collection imo. Both sports obviously, but one is dressier and flashier, the other is opposite and can be a daily tool watch. Different features too. All bases covered from work to play to pleasure to travel with these 2 references. I guess if I could only own one, it would be the Sub.

My advice would be to add the CHNR if you can OP! I have a strong feeling that if you trade your Sub in, you will be missing it not long afterwards.

Depends on what else you have in the collection? First watch, i would buy the sub since its more versatile.

The CHNR makes the Sub look very boring

Both are great timepieces, if you have to have only one, always go for the one you love the most.

One watch only would be the sub. Much better for a daily. I love the CHNR if you have more than one in the collection, I defiantly would add a CHNR.

Add if you can - they make a really great pair. Then you can decide to keep both or get rid of one.

I vote Root Beer. I love the rose gold two tone, and way less common. For me, that's an upgrade.

i'd never let a black sub go to get a CHNR.

i owned the CHNR and ultimately sold it because I found it to be too "fussy" and a bit too dressy for me. Something about the combo of the two tone with the rose, brown, and black just didn't work for me. Don't get me wrong, it's definitely a beautiful watch, but I kept finding myself putting it on, then taking it off and opting for something else in the collection.

on the other hand, black subs are iconic and incredibly versatile. i can wear it with anything and for any occasion and it never feels out of place for me. sure, they're more common, and maybe not as "special," but that never bothered me.

if it were me, i'd figure out a way to hang on to the sub and add a GMT when you can. if the colors and the two tone appeal to you, then you'll enjoy the CHNR. but for my taste, the BLRO makes a better partner for a black sub.

trust your gut. good luck!

Depends on your lifestyle in my opinion. I absolutely love the CHNR. but personally I would never wear one.

Not sure what else you have but I would only add the CHNR, not replace. The Sub can easily fit in just about any situation you're in. The CHNR is not as versatile a watch.

I suppose the brown combined with black and gold works for some skin tones and tastes….just not for me. I prefer other colors

I have a Sub a slate YM and the CHNR. Never touch my Sub. The Sub is a great watch, owned one for over 30 years. Just fund it dull and overly common.
