help with Rolex Precision...

is this a Precision?

dial looks slightly funny to me, the crown appears tiny, and the Arabic numerals appear to be different than ones I see on other precisions.
also, that crown appears domed.

if anyone can get me an exact reference and years I would appreciate it.

It doesn't appear to say precision, more likely "SHOCK-RESISTING". But it could still technically be a PRECISION of some type, such as a ref 4498 (which I easily found using google images). Please show more and better photos, including of the inside. Also please post the case size, material, and any other information you have.

Dial appears to be refinished and so it may take more than that to investigate.

Nice Bombe' lugs. It is the movement and the intended market that makes it a precision, super precision, or just a mutt.

Thanks guys... it's not my watch, I am trying to do the leg work for someone else.

Did rolex ever use the wording shock resistant?

'Shock Resisting', they did, but I think mainly Pre-Tudor. Looks 1940s to me.

'Precision' isn't a particular model or line of models, it's just a word on the dial, like 'Super Precision'. The 17-jewel Air-Kings made for the USA market decades ago didn't say 'Precision' on the dial, but others of the same reference sold elsewhere with 26 jewels did (and Air-Kings kept the word on the dial until well into the 21st century, as they weren't COSC cert).

Thanks.. so then it would just be a manual wind (not perpetual) of some kind?
From what I found I would place the piece in the 1946 to maybe 1952.

This person got me this photo.. to me it looks like it is way to big for that era

Yes, it's not a Perpetual and not an Oyster. A look inside would tell you a lot, but I'm sure it's real and original, except for the band and maybe the crown.
