Traded down from Rose Gold to Steel

traded up for my 15400or last year from 2 APs (26331st black & 15400or leather)
held it for almost a year, wore it less than 10x.
it's pretty difficult to wear it out on a daily basis (imo weight of the watch isn't the issue)
decided to trade it down again back to a steel 15500st black
Love the skeleton rotor and I am ready to rock this watch more often.
plus with the extra cash from the trade, I can grab another white dial AP diver 15710st + a ceramic daytona black

did i do the wrong thing? lol

Definitely not. You traded for a watch you'd wear more often, good call!

It's better to have both for different occasions.

People forget that’s there’s no real ‘rights or wrongs’ with this watch hobby - it’s what suits you. Sounds like this scenario works for you so good choice. I went the other way 18 months back and swapped two Rolexes (that weren’t getting worn) for a white gold Rolex that gets worn a lot.

Enjoy your watch :-)

The other day my SA asked if i would like to buy a gold watch royal oak, and my first thought was that I'd wear it too rarely and that would be a shame.

OP- quick question, you said it wasn’t the weight, it was just the flashiness that turned you off?

i think it's alittle too flashy + doesn't sit well with my skin tone.
also, the fear of banging it up.

i have a white gold gmt pepsi and the weight is comparable with the AP RO but i have no issues with the rolex.

yes sir! i love a white gold rolex.

a white gold AP RO? only limited edition and it's too far of a reach for me at the moment.

yeap. I have gone thru almost every variant of the regular 15400 (none from AP, all grey)

i was deciding between a 15500 or 15400 steel but decided to give the 15500 a try.
the only thing that is pushing me back to 15400 is the enlarged dial on the 15500 but after wearing it, it seems fine.
plus the newer caliber and skeleton rotor is to die for!

I would have done the same, live in NYC and i wear my watches so rose/yellow catches too many eyes. I only wear SS or WG and the black RO is great!

If it was your only watch I would say good move, but RG RO is amazing and would have kept it.

I think you made the right decision. If you can’t wear a watch without worry, why bother owning it

I had a DD 40 with olive dial while it was an amazing looking watch I felt uncomfortable every time I wore it just wasn't for me so I sold it - so I agree on your move
