Potential first AP…
Hello guys don’t venture over to this side of the forum very often.
I’m looking at offloading a few Rolex models. I have to admit I’ve tried a few AP’s on and they have failed to grab my attention, I was dead set on a 15500 at one point and nearly bought it sight unseen, when I tried it on I absolutely hated it. This one has always been on my radar but again - yet to see it in person. I’m pretty sure I would like it though. I’m really not that knowledgeable when it comes to AP so any info that could be given to me would be great : here is the watch in question… ![]() ![]() Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

i believe these are like 50g heavier than a platona so i guess that's mostly what you need to keep in mind
what did you hate about the 15500? was it the size, weight, something else? i personally think if getting an AP on a bracelet it should be a RO but these are nice as well if you're cool with the weight and size |

What was it about the 15500 you didn’t like?
This ROO you posted makes quite the impression in gold and may be more to your liking as a Rolex guy. However, it is important you get to try one on. If you have access to a boutique then they may have exhibition models, or a visit to a local grey if available is another option to try. |

That's one watch I would not recommend buying without trying it on. Size, weight, bling factor are pretty far out there. But if you want something that grabs attention, this may be the ticket!
Also, avoid anything that has been touched up by anyone other than AP. |

The brick is really nice, but really really heavy!! As others have said, try it on first. I have only handled one in the boutique and it was excellent from my memories.
As an intro to AP, if you didn’t like the 15500, maybe try a 42mm offshore or the new 43mm offshores. You can buy a bracelet for them as well if you prefer full bracelet. |

I really think like your experience with the 15500, you have to try all of these on to see how you think it fits. Sight unseen is asking for some unhappiness. Photos can look great, but the dimensions on paper don't really line up well with how it feels on the wrist for AP IMHO.

Hi Jay,
May be go for the new model (see pictures below). You have the option for rubber bracelet also. You have the wrist for it, try it on and see how you like it.

Weight is a + for me 50gms over the platinum Daytona is heavy wow. The 15500, what I disliked about it was to be honest, AP is always held in such high regard and finishing compared to Rolex, honestly I feel a Rolex watch is just nicer. I had expectations of the “flashy” bracelet I had seen owners comment on, whereas I found it rather dull, very light almost flimsy feeling compared to a Rolex bracelet. It just wasn’t for me at all. I tried on all three dial colours and the grey was my favourite even though I originally liked the others more. Thanks Benz I do prefer this one actualy - is that the list price jeez that’s cheap Am I right to assume this would be a difficult watch for acquire as a first time customer? |

Potential first AP…
That 42mm ROO 26238OR Benz posted above is
![]() ![]() I was able to try on that specific model at the NYC boutique, but ended up getting called for the rose 50th Anniversary ROC (26240OR). Usually very difficult to purchase as a first AP at retail, but some people get lucky. FYI: the price you saw in Benz’s photo was just for the bracelet - the watch on bracelet goes for $92K. Have you checked out the 43mm AP ROOs? Thought you might like it seeing how you liked the brick!

I would definitely try one on before pulling the trigger on a piece like this.
