Oysterflex Daytona with a Suit

I’m next in line for this dial 116518 Daytona. Couldn’t find pictures online but I’m curious how this reference would look with a navy or perhaps charcoal suit? I’m very casual but I’m hoping this could be my ‘dress’ watch for those rare occasions. Thoughts?

Black strap hard to match to navy suit IMHO. A bit less clash to charcoal, but would be off with gray. Best to get Platona for those days! Looks killer with black sweater though!

I have worn mine many times with a suit. People that don't know Rolex, think the band is leather from a distance, people that know understand the value.

Love your Paul Newman dial, I have the gold with black sub dials.

Should look great, but it would mean always wearing black dress shoes as I have to match shoes to strap.

What a watch... hope you get it soon.

Before things got so casual, I only wore my YG Daytona for dress. Then I realized it’s a sports watch so I’ve worn it to every event and car show I’ve gone to for many years…

Obviously not an oyster flex but here I’m wearing it with a sweater on my way out to a car event. Wear it to everything!

I think it is a very versatile watch. I can see it with navy, the gold and navy go well together. I think pretty much anything goes with charcoal.

I personally wouldn’t. I’d receive an oysterflex for anything but smart attire.

It looks off to me. Full bracelet/leather is the way to go.

Only exception maybe if suiting up a couture type suit that isn’t worn formally anyway

a suit would work with Day-Date/Datejust/GMT-Master.......but would look out of place with other sports watches....but would look best with a dress watch

however, wear your style.....no one really would care anyways

I think the most common misconception about OysterFlex watches is that it can't be worn with formal attire. It is one of the most versatile watches out there together with the Aquanaut. Long gone are the days where one should only wear a dress watch for a formal event.

Really depends on OP's comfort level. Some people only would consider a proper dress watch with a suit while others will wear a JC SeaDweller. Personally I am not a fan of rubber straps with suits but thats me.

Absolutely does work. I always wear my Oysterflex to all my formal events now.

I think gone are the times where it was "required" to wear a minimal design on leather for example. If you wanted to wear a RM or a Royal Oak Offshore, go do it, I think it all looks great.

Technically the oyster flex bracelet is a bracelet.

It’s not uncommon for people to wear Apple Watches on rubber straps with formal attire these days. A PM Daytona on oyster flex is very versatile and can worn with anything and not look out of place. Any luxury watch will have far better wrist presence than the slew of hideous smart watches worn today with most of the population. Don’t over think it

I wore mine with a suit last Friday to a charity event. And wore it Saturday with jeans and a T-shirt. It’s a very versatile piece

It is really anything goes today, but I still think a bracelet looks better than a rubber strap with a business suit or sportscoat. Really, nobody will notice.

I too am waiting on a Rolex Daytona PM … for me, I will not wear it with a tuxedo, I have a dress watch for that … but I do plan on wearing it with suits … I will buy also an Alligator strap, and use that when wearing a suit … rubber OysterFlex for casual wear.

FYI, scroll down and you’ll find someone who posted a Daytona with OF. Looks good to me:

You could swap the rubber for a premium leather to dress up this watch significantly.

I think it’s fine to do it.

Truth is, no one cares about your watch and if they do recognize it, they likely wont mention anything. It’s common to see apple watches with suits so why not an OF daytona?
