Thank you

My GMT. I used cape cod today to polish the center. You can see the top part, above the Rolex logo, has not been polished. Nor did I try to polish the brushed part of the clasp.

Cape cod works surprisingly well on gold PCL clasp.

I will soon buy the metal bracelet of the 116500 (78590) for my 116519LN and I could feed the subject after a few months of daily wear because this Daytona is my favorite !!

Dr. Tom has been on sabbatical from the forum for a long time, missed his shots of his PM trio (Platona, Smurf and BLRO) with all the battle scars as well Lee !

Tom’s a good guy, but we’re at opposite ends of the country, and not related. I hope he’s still racing Porsches and doing well in his vascular practice. Haven’t seen him here in quite some time!

He did give me a remote consult on a venous varix I ended up needing to have removed. ;-)

I don’t tie them to the back of a truck to drag down a gravel road, but if I can’t live normal life with a “sport” watch, then I won’t own it. In my life, that often means spur of the moment manual labor to help out kids or neighbors or sports teams or whatever. I don’t call a timeout when a flat tire needs changing, just because I’m wearing a watch.

Others will say I “abused” the watch, or didn’t give it proper respect - as if a mass produced piece of mechanical jewelry was due some kind of respect.

P.S. Platona is gone now, and I was very happy with the value I received for it in trade toward my 5370P.

Well said Bob.

Out of curiosity, do you wear the Patek the same way?

Not entirely. I see it as a different kind of watch. I have a Blancpain FF and an AP Diver that probably get more of that treatment. I don’t take my Pateks in the water. If I know beforehand I’m going to be rough and tumble, I’ve always put on a steel sport watch, or G-Shock.

I was coaching an activity for my High School kids on Saturday wearing my 5270J. I ended up helping load clay targets in a machine during a break.

Yesterday afternoon, one of my sons wanted help getting a welder set up. He’s learning to TIG weld. So, I went out and helped him. I was wearing the 5370P, and probably should have taken it off, but I just put on long welding gloves instead.

Like I said, I don’t intentionally abuse them, but I do own them with the intent for them all to be worn daily.

Really cool pictures, especially the platinum Daytona; I also share the sentiment that I don't purposely "abuse" my watches, but I just wear them and scratches happen, here're some of mine:

Curious - was the Platona polished prior to selling?

No. It was part of a trade deal, and the condition was disclosed with lots of pics and detail. I’m sure it was polished before being sold on to its new home.

It didn’t break until late Friday afternoon and he is only open Tuesday to Thursday. Sometimes Friday. Can’t even talk to him till tomorrow to come up with a plan.
