When did Rolex stop printing "precision" on the dial and switch to the "superlative chronometer" dial? Did they actually make changes in the manufactor and/or testing of the watch or did they simply reword the dial?

I am no expert, but I believe Precision refers to the movement inside, and/or how accurate it could be.

They had Precision, Super Precision and of course COSC.

I have seen Precision on the dial as late as 2000. I would speculate this was a change made within the last few years, to bring the AK up to COSC Standards.

I am sure a resident expert will chime in with the year they changed it.

as my experience, i have 14000m K seried mid 2001 explore blue dial 3/6/9 where typed "precision" on dial above 6, with movement calibre 3000 27jewels not cosc, and then discontinued thus since next edition 114200 typed superlative chronometer, officially certified used movement calibre 3135 31jewels cosc

still has precision.. for some reason i had thought they changed to superlative... when the sub no date was finally sent for COSC.

Air King movements, like the Sub 14060, were not COSC, so Precision has been used probably only to balance out the dial (although in the 50's/60's precision, Susperprecision were used to denote quality such as jewel count etc.)

Since all movements are now COSC, I would say Precision is on them up until the release of the latesl 114XXX models in 2007.
