Sticker Protection for your Watch/Rolex
Has been offered by my trusted dealer who happens to be a dealer also for the watch protection sticker.
He offers to apply the protection sticker to my newly purchased SS Ceramic Black Dial Daytona (116500 LN) for USD 175. What do you think Guys? Regards,

So let me understand....you apply the stickers which get dirty and disgusting over time, which can potentially cause scratches and abrasion and you pay for the privelage of it all ? I think I must be missing something here.

I wouldn't do it. Seems like a product that's been adapted to the watch market just to increase revenue. It's easy to sell when someone is holding a new watch and you tell them for a small fee they can "protect" the finish.
Like putting paint protection film on windshields. I learned that $500 lesson when a shop convinced me to do it on my new truck. A month later I came in because it had large streaks in it from my windshield wipers after one trip in the rain. That's the first time they mentioned I couldn't use my windshield wipers with it. |

God give me strength sticker protection would not want it if only 75p,with todays mainly over pampered watches the $175 saved could be put toward the next RSC service when due..

It's really not clean
You can see it here, there are 2 or 3 members who have this on their watches, the rendering is disgusting and would spoil all the fun for me. I understand a case and a screen protector on a telephone for example as long as it does not damage its primary vocation which is to be a smartphone. But there, it rots the experience for me which is for me a pure luxury, the luxury to have a beautiful object that also gives the time. So the question is : You can pay it, ok. But can you afford it? No offense, I can't afford to wear an RM for example, that's life !

Sticker Protection for your Watch/Rolex
Stickers will keep it from getting hairline marks but obviously not dings or impact dents. If you’re willing to keep the watch clean on a daily basis if you wear it a lot, and understand that you’ll have to reapply stickers as you go because the edges will collect dust and curl up which isn’t a good look - which could end up scratching it anyways, then yes.
Most people on this forum don’t want to bother with it, as noted in the comments here. Your watch, your decision. |

We encourage paying massive markups over MSRP for a mass-manufactured watch but heaven forbid you want to put a sticker on your watch.
Straight to hell with you and your stickers you evil human sinner! Not everyone puts a sticker on it for protection. I have 1 sticker on my watch because the lights in my office, home, and the sun reflect so well off the sapphire crystal that I can't see it. I have a slight eye condition. Having a piece of darker plastic on the sapphire is not for protection but to kill that glare. The watch is basically useless to me without this. I do this for every watch and will continue to do it. |

Plastering other "protective" stickers (that ALWAYS look like garbage IMO) all over your watch to keep it looking mint for the next owner, while you live with a horrible aesthetic yourself, is a totally different argument IMO. Obviously each to their own and all that good stuff, but personally I think it's a terrible idea. And a ridiculously expensive one by the looks of the OP's quote!

I don't see why not to be honest. $175 is steep for stickers though. Maybe negotiate it down.

It’s a SS watch, stickers seem odd to me. When people compare it to clear bra on a Ferrari, no it’s not the same. It’s a $25,000 watch in the market. So it’s more like clear wrapping a used Honda accord. Just wear it, it’s going to get scratched, and live with it.

Putting clear wrap on a Ferrari is dumb too. Just drive the effing thing.

I’m not interested in stickers for my watch in the same way I’m not interested in a screen protector for my phone or a bug protector/bra for my car. I sometimes flinch at the “it’s meant to be worn” crowd swarming in reference to high end PM models. Generally, however, I agree that with common sense and appropriate wear most Rolex will be just fine. I wouldn’t lay brick in a Platona, but a day at the beach in a sub doesn’t even register on my risk-o-meter. And the stickers would probably just attract sand….

I wouldn’t do it either. I wear my PM GMT daily but stickers to protect it would be a step to far in my opinion. Like i also don’t use screen protectors or anything like that. Wear and enjoy the watch and let it age with you. And when something really nasty happens to it, the stickers won’t protect it and there is always a way to fix that (laserwelding). And the subtle hairlines it does prevent, they can easily fix on the next service. Just my 2 cents.
