Vintage Newbie, Need Help
Hey guys,
I found a vintage Omega that I'm quite excited about on C24 but know nothing about - can anyone advise as to what this is, pros/cons (maintenance, etc), fair value, anything else? Caught an article online that the rose gold omega of this vintage really were not rose gold...odd. I don't think I'm allowed to post the direct link but below is a photo + description. Thanks guys! Very rare, well maintained and beautiful vintage Omega in solid 18k rose gold with manual wind caliber 266 in very good condition. The serial number suggests a year of manufacture of the 1950s. - 37mm case in solid 18k rose gold (750 hallmarked several times) - Distinctive Dolphine-hands - Original honeycomb dial - Charming patina - Original Omega alligator leather strap in dark blue with solid 18k Sedna rose gold pin buckle with embossed logo (2021) The watch also keeps time very well for its age. Inside ticks the high quality Omega manufacture caliber 266 refined with red gold which is known for its robustness as well as precision. A rare feast for the eyes for vintage lovers and for anyone who is captivated by these wonderful aesthetics. |

It's a nice looking watch. I'm not exactly sure what the details are about the piece. Buy it because you like it and want to keep it / pass it on, and for no other reason.
Regarding service, an independent watchmaker if possible will be more cost effective. Sending it into Omega would be more, in most cases. For the vintage pieces they'll send it to Switzerland for the service to be completed. Does the seller include pictures of the movement number (serial number) and case number? This way, if you did end up buying it you could order an Extract from the Archives. Someone here will likely have more details. If you can post more images, or larger ones that can be helpful too. ![]() |

Hard to say much with that picture as I can’t even confirm the dial.
If it’s correct then they offer great value at their price point. Buy the seller! James Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |
