Plan to Wear My Newly Acquired Speedy to Turkey
Guys,
I know you ve been reading this so many times.... But due to current situation, I think it would be better if you could have the insight of those who have the experiences before.... Will go to Turkey for Holiday next week....I will leave my Rolexes behind, but planning to wear my newly acquired Speedy there.... What do you think Guys? Is it wise enough? Thanks in advance for your advices....

A thief would recognize a Rolex and the Speedmaster.
There both icons and very recognizable. If your worried about theft, I would go for a 3rd option. Me personally, I would wear what ever I wanted and be vigilant.

If you feel that you need to ask strangers for advice about this, I don't think you should!

Unless it's a SE or LE Speedmaster, I'd say go ahead and wear that.

cant go wrong with a speedy. the only problem is see is that you would have to wind it everyday and would be a bother if you are in a hurry.
much more legible than a rolex imho |

If in doubt, don't. Without know why specifically you have concerns I would use it as an opportunity to wear some cool Seiko's and G-Shocks.

If your holiday includes swimming then I would choose another watch.

I've been to Turkey many times, usually wearing a PP. No issues.
Incidentally, I've travelled the world and the only time I've ever (nearly) been mugged for my watch was in South Africa... for a G Shock. |

I’m sure you’ll be fine but when I go on holiday/ want to relax/ not have one eye out for anyone scoping out my watch.
Currently on holiday & I picked this up about 5/ 6 months ago on eBay which took along. Nice looking divers & no harm done if anyone swipes it nor would it ruin the holiday. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

What are Speedy’s selling for nowadays? $6k? A beautiful 2 bedroom apartment lease is under $100/month in any of the major Turkish cities. You can purchase a new construction unit for $40k in some cities on the Black Sea. Do you honestly think you won’t get robbed because the Speedy is not a Rolex? You’ll get robbed for a Doxa, Longines, Hublot, IWC, Omega, you name it. If they get a $1500 Longines off of you and pawn it for $400 then that’s 4 months of rent in one hours work. My brother was in Istanbul a year ago and was pushed into a car, robbed of his cash and passport and thrown out
