Sea Dweller mk1 116660 production years

Hi Does anyone own a 116660, deep-sea mk1, black dial, post 2010, with a random serial number? I know they where sold 2008 to 2014 , but I own a G series 2010 model that went through the AD in March 2013. This leads me to wonder whether they were only made for 3 years 2008-2010 and drip fed into the market? Next question is would this make it a rare?

The early 116660 models had the flat “S” but I would not call them rare.

I have one. It's a good mental thing for me to have a MK1 dial. But that's it.

Great movement and watch!

Oh I have a V series.

Not particularly rare.
Made between 2008 and sometime in 2011 is my best guess.
My late 2011 is a MK II dial and I think they were made for around 18 months tops. After that it was the MK III dial until 2017.
I don't know about drip fed as I had seen and tried on out of curiosity the MK I on a couple of occasions which were on display back then, but could never warm to the dial set out and font mish mash.
Then I stumbled onto my MK II on display in late 2011and bought it on the spot on a whim.
After that I maybe saw a MK III once as that's when inventory of SS professional Rolex watches was starting to noticeably thin out generally.

I don't think they have ever been very popular due to the size, weight and proportions in the Rolex of things.

Cool watch and I owned and wore one daily for a couple of years. Not rare.

I would say it’s fairly rare as far Rolex goes.
