Vintage GMT

Looking at a what I believe is a 16750 which was recently serviced at Rolex.
Watch will come from my AD with service paperwork from Rolex and warranty.
I have not received the list of parts, but I will in a day or two.
Here's what I do know.
The movement was changed.
The hands and dial.
Crystal.
Bill was over $3500!
Watch looks new.
The dial is a gloss with white gold.
I have a vintage 1675, but it would be nice to have one to wear.

What do you think?

I tend to agree that it would be a nice daily wear watch, but, it would have little collector value and is what many of us call a "service watch."

Your thread should probably be moved to the Vintage Section.

Agree with JP. Paradoxically I suspect that this type of watch will rise in value in years to come, as it will be the staple of the new fangled Certified Rolex Pre-Owned thing they are launching (when they inevitably put 80's watches on it)...... as they will not reduce value/pricing on watches with Rolex service items as it will shoot themselves in the foot!
We wizened collectors will steer clear though at high prices, and we broadly discount such a watch quite heavily, if laden with r.service parts.

Why can't you wear the 1675?

1675 would be too hard to replace if lost or stolen.

The whole movement was replaced? That's interesting, I haven't seen that very often from Rolex. I usually see them replace parts as needed. Maybe the whole thing was badly corroded.

I agree about the movement, I will have more details in a day or two when I go back to AD and finally get to see the watch in person. The photos look new.
My big concern was the dial. Gold surrounds. But I now realized by looking at the way the hands are stacked it is a 16750 which was made with both mat dial and also glossy with gold. I love plastic crystals and everything else about the early GMTs.
The price is about $3k less than similar watches on Chrono24 and what appears to be the current price. I was considering purchasing a GMT Master II 16710 then this popped up. Less money. Straight from Rolex Service. Seems like a win. But it is always nice to get a second opinion.

Nothing wrong at all with a watch having service parts. However I would expect more than a $3k discount relative to chrono24 prices for a 16750, both because of the service parts (especially the luminova dial) and also because C24 prices tend to be extremely inflated. That said, you need to consider the value and convenience of the service. Put it all together and see if it works for you personally.

Unless it's a 2000-2006 Tritinova T25 service dial, which it's not...I'm with Dan and I'd expect about circa 1/3 or more off C24 mkt rate for a swiss dial plus other service stuff fitted.

I looked at Chrono24 and was surprised by asking price of listed 16750's.
The mean price is $17,500.
This watch is closer to 1/2 of the mean listing price.
