Availability
I've read a couple of posts where members have recently walked into their AD and to their surprise the watch they wanted was actually in stock.
Is the availability of Rolex models easing up to the point where you no longer have to be placed on a waiting list? Which AD's seem to have an in stock inventory of desirable pieces?

That what it seems like. I walked into my AD last week and was placed on a waiting list for a Sub.... for a few months they were telling customers the waiting list is too long and they won't be adding any more name...
I know it's not the same as actually getting the call but it's a start. I was assured that it would be possible for them to deliver/get me one soon. |

I think depends on the model and demand. I was in Vegas back in Oct and walked into AD by Wynn...they had a DJ36 in stock (black dial smooth bezel). I passed.
My own AD offered me a DJ41 silver dial right before x-mas which I also passed. I'm on the waitlist for blue motif dial DJ41. It definitely seems to be getting better. I have ZERO purchase history and just got on the waitlist back in Oct. |

Chances of walking in and out with what you want is slim. Why not request what you want and ask to be contacted when the watch is available?

The answer is, it depends.
I went into a local AD yesterday (not my regular AD), just to look around. Turns out, this (well known) AD has lost their Rolex AD status as of January1. She still had a "few" pieces available. I got offered, I kid you not, a Full Gold Sub. $39K! I turned it down, as I am not looking for same, and I couldn't afford it anyway (well, I could but I'd have to sell a couple pieces). She was pushing hard to sell it to me. Also had a TT Explorer 36, a couple random Datejusts, and a couple pieces with diamonds. None on display, all in the safe. She showed me all pics on here phone the remaining inventory. PM me if you want the info. Could all be sold buy now, who knows? |

I have to agree. Paying 25-30% over retail is not something I'm personally willing to do and I am more than willing to wait.

Why don't you pm those "members" who got their watches from their AD? I'm sure they are happy to help their struggling AD out.

No.
Rolex ADs are even more direct than before. AD: "How long have you lived here?" TRF Guy: "Four years" AD: "How far is your drive?" TRF Guy: "About an hour" AD: "You should foster a relationship with your local dealer" (In other words, take a hike...) That's pretty much verbatim. |
