116710 Cleaning

I am new to the forum but figured I would jump on in. This is my second Rolex. My first one being a 1675. Bored out of my mind today, I decided that the 6 month old 116710 needed a thorough cleaning. Here are a few bad pictures. But better than none I guess.

Thanks for looking.

Nope. No extra parts, she is back on the wrist and looking good.

I bought it to wear and wear it I do. I figure it is only the bracelet that is really hammered. The dial and bezel still look new and the ceramic sure can take a beating.

Wow, your bracelet sure has taken a beating, do you work on a concrete desk?

That's some intense wear-and-tear for six months. If you don't mind me asking, what do you do for a living?

Well, she's no safe qween. Good to see a watch getting used. The head looks in very good shape.

I have seen scratches like these before. A metal table of some sort perhaps? Happy cleaning.

Looks great even when taken apart! Really the best new Rolex around IMHO.

Don't worry about the scratches, makes it look more like a Tool watch than a dress watch. Like it's fulfilling its purpose. Besides, after its service in 8 years it will look brand new again.

Its even a beautiful watch when its in pieces. Too bad those PCL's show every little scratch, but its also nice to see a watch that has been worn. Thanks for sharing.

I sit at a desk but it is a rough/bumpy carbon fiber and my wrist runs across it a 1000 times a day.

Although…

I am sure this could have something to do with it too.

I would like to one day say I remodeled my whole house while wearing my GMT. Plus the PCLs are not really for me this definitely gives it a tool watch look. And you only live once so get the most out of it.

Good for you - great to see a Rolex been worn as it should be.

Hmmm, sorry to disagree with you. I would not wear that Rolex while doing that work.

I am sure there are some that disagree with me.

Wow! That really is in a state, but it's great to see someone enjoying their watch to the full.

Everyone says use a soft toothbrush for cleaning Rolexes, but I would have thought this would scratch the PCLs?

I'm with you, and with most who've replied so far...it's your watch. Wear it and enjoy it! That's why you buy them.

Great watch. >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>

Goes to show how tough Rolexes are. You seem to "wear it well".

I am sure there are a lot of different opinions on this one, personally, I wouldn't wear my Rolex doing heavy work, but at the same time, it is YOUR watch, you spent your hard earned money on it and if you enjoy wearing it at all times, Good on ya!

Ya I saved for about four years for the 2009 Dodge Challenger. It came out and was nothing like the concept so I spent my money on this. I take it off only to shower or when using a sledge hammer or jack hammer. Other than that if figure if it cannot take what my hand is doing then it should not be on my wrist. Beside if it breaks it has a two year warranty… I have the 1675 that has been in my family since new. It was used by an iron worker he was the owner of the company but he still got his hands dirty. The watch still runs great.

Hmmmmmmm......Think I'd have to pull out a Wenger when doing that kind of work. I'd be too paranoid about breaking the crystal or having something come loose inside.
