AD says lots of stock coming in

AD offered me a no date sub today and I declined. Not looking for a sub right now. They said lots of inventory has been coming in. Demand still exceeds supply but supply has been increasing. Hoping a Milgauss comes in soon!

On the contrary. The demand is falling fast, hence the Subs are showing up along with the Datejusts .. Only top models are spared for now and find the buyers via first call.

This. Spoke with an SA at WoS and they said they’re very slow

That’s very interesting and I hope a correct call.

I would imagine a lot of flippers have been eliminated for several of these models, right? Are trusted sellers even offering MSRP+Tax for BNIB Explorer Is and IIs? I doubt it. Maybe break even on the Sub and maybe small profit on the Sub Date for flippers? Probably still some profit on BLNR, profit on BLRO, and obviously Daytona.

There was probably a lot of pent up demand from people that actually WANT these watches (I mean just look at this forum) that was propping up prices maybe from mid to late 2022. But this is probably already starting to wane. Unlike flippers, most people only want one Sub, one BLNR, one BLRO, etc.

I think this is the next (and maybe last?) shoe to drop on the price declines. Flippers already somewhat eliminated, now end-consumer demand waning. Will be interesting to see how this all shakes out.

I don't think you'll see much increased availability soon. Maybe on Datejusts and PM pieces

Demand is obviously slowing, probably a combination of the stock market and a saturated grey market. I have noticed some more pieces showing up (just picked a new DJ41), haven't seen one come up at an AD in over two years. Two friends picked up black dial Daytonas from the same AD within a year. Rolex also just got back from their winter break so mass shipments have been going out since January.

Popular models will always have a list, but things like TT Daytonas, certain Datejusts, etc will start showing up in the cases soon enough.

Wonder if there may be differences between countries as well. Doom and gloom all around and yet the U.K. stock market is at an all time high.

I kind of see it like dark knight’s post though maybe the US are a bit further along the “price drop” trend.

AD says lots of stock coming in

What is the AD store. I’ll buy them all if it’s available

Glut of supply of every model on the secondary market, wash through of increased production from Rolex and macro economic gloom with high interest rates. I don’t think there is any doubt which way prices are going to continue. Supply at AD will get easier without doubt. An interesting parallel is prestige car market and ‘script’ being given to authorised dealers. I just bought a Land Rover Defender and was repeatedly quoted over phone 12-18 months due to massive demand. Having visited a few and spoken to friend in trade he said they wanted to continue the illusion of scarcity as long as possible. In the end bought one and took deliver in under 4 weeks. I think the script being given to AD’s is the exact same process.

I would take a Submariner over a Milgauss every day of the week.

Prices have gone so high over the years trying to make watches into an asset class. I've seen a lot Defenders everywhere though don't how much they paid. I hope it gets better for getting a Toyota Sienna and a new Prius.

LOL I am on the list for a no date Sub. Hoping it will be this year. Doesn’t look too promising.

This was already happening in late 2022. I inquired about a TT Daytona white dial at an AD and was told one actually made it into the display but was sold the next day. So I just missed it.

And I was consistently seeing TT Datejusts and the occasional SS in display cases in late 2022 as well. Two that stand out were both TT DJ41s - RG Wimbledon on oyster, and a YG motif dial on jubilee. Leading into the Holidays + Rolex factory closure, the displays got barren again. But I'm sure they will go right back to being fairly full of random DJs again soon.

I was on the list for 2.5 years for sub no date btw. But I'm sort of interested in a Bluesy. Or maybe a Hulksy if they ever make a green two tone.

Even on secondary market you can now get things like TT Daytona, Air King, TT Datejust for right at or just slightly more than msrp + tax.

My AD said "There are 500 people ahead of you waiting for that GMT." (Direct quote)

Since it's just an exact number I think it actually means something else (If it had been 498 or 512 I might have taken it at face value...)

Coming in by the truckloads, Right? My AD said that demand for the high interest models like the GMT's, special Subs, Daytonas, etc. will continue to outstrip supply by a huge margin. Let's hope he is wrong and supply and deliveries really do improve in 2023.

Not either of the ADs Ive bought from.

I'm lucky if I get a return call back saying "there are many schmucks who have paid good money on useless David Yurman bracelets and Breitlings and we haven't even gotten to them yet so hang on and we wont get to you".

What's the name of this AD and where is it located? I can help them with some of their supply "problem".

I'd rather hold steel subs than cash in the bank. Zero chance I'd pass on a sub unless I had bought 30 recently.
