Wimbledon Dial on Older Datejust

Apologies if this is a stupid question.

Is it possible to swap a Wimbledon dial into an old model datejust.
Is this frowned upon?

Thanks!!

Others with more knowledge on this matter will undoubtedly chime in here, maybe even correcting what I’ve been told by my AD.

Dial swaps are allowed after the initial 5 yr warranty. Only dials that were offered with the reference can be requested; however I “think” a specialty dial may not be allowed at this time. Think of OP Perpetual dials; yellow for turquoise, as an example.

Hi @Arm, this is something that happed to me. I wanted the Ivory pyramid Roman numeral dial on an updated (more modern) 2 tone Datejust. I was not allowed to do so since that dial configuration has been outdated for a number of years. So, depending on the year(s) your current Datejust (reference) was made, it’s doubtful the RSC would allow you to swap for the Wimbledon dial.

What I’ve heard as a possibility would be to source the dial you want from elsewhere. If you went that route, you’d have to switch back to your OEM dial for servicing by the RSC. (I don’t know if an independent watch repair person/Co. would hold you to RSC’s rules)
I hope this helps!
